I ran into something similar at Staples, returning something that not only had their labeling, it was their store brand. The manager said they demanded a receipt to prove it wasn't stolen.

Marathon Bars.

Just the right combination of caramel and chocolate, and it was huge (or looked it anyway, there was a lot of empty space in the wrapper).

Did they have peanuts in? In which case they became "snickers" here, which is not a good idea in my view ...

Marathon chocolate bars bars could be the latest old-style confectionery favourite to stage a comeback - 18 years after they were renamed Snickers.
A new report has revealed that Mars may be poised to resurrect the peanut-packed chocolate bar 18 years after it vanished from store shelves

Marathons here are like Mars Bars in the UK. (from what i recall in the children's halloween candy.... just the caramel and milky way stuff. Milky Way = 3 Musketeers, i think)

Push lawn mowers got pushed over a cliff when peple found self propelled power mowers, and apples that taste like apples disappeared after Merrill Streep decided Alar was bad for someone.

Nope. Snickers Bars are Snickers Bars here still. Chocolate, Caramel, Nougat and Peanuts.

The Marathon Bar I'm talking about was just caramel and chocolate, and was extra long ... reinforced by have a ruler printed on the wrapper, just to reinforce the long-ness over other candy bars in the Late 70s/Early 80s.

There appears to be a similar product called The Curly-Wurly.

Not quite right, but closer. The Curly-Wurly page includes some details about the Marathon.

Oh, you silly Brits.

A Three Musketeers Bar is just the fluffy nougat stuff, covered in chocolate.

The Milky Way is the nougat with a ribbon of caramel over the top covered in chocolate.

The Snickers is nougat with a ribbon of caramel and peanuts added.

Just to make things more confusing, there are now flavor variations of each.

Say, has anybody noticed it's darn near impossible to find a single Baby Ruth bar, but you can get bags of them around Halloween? Wouldn't have occurred to me, frankly, but a cow orker had a friend visit from Ireland and she was totally nuts for Baby Ruths, but couldn't find any.

Whatever happened to:

Elvira

Portland Wrestling and that wake up guy. Whatever his name was.

The day when TVs actually went off the air for the night. Free and entertaining. Why do we need 70 paid channels of nothingness.
