We believe that here on Arran, too! Our Avon laides do a roaring trade in it as we have the smallest fiercest midges on Earth! |
Alright....I don't know yet.....about "SSS"
I am allergic to these mosquitos down here...I'm trying anything......you should see what the little buggers did to my neck.... I also heard it from separate sources. Has anyone else actually tried it and found that it doesn't work as a repellant? |
SSS works fabulously on the skeeters down here in swampy South Florida. My family has been using it for 30 years. http://www.comicguide.net/images/smilies/fliege.gif
Oddly, mosquitos do not bite me. They land on me, but they don't like the way I taste, apparently. Someone once told me that it could be because of my Native American blood... http://www.thehealthymom.com/wp-cont...tion/dunno.gif |

Studies have shown the only thing that actually works on mosquitoes is deet.
The SSS that works is the one with deet. |
I've always heard that "uping" your B Vitamins help with Mosquito Bites, as in helps repel them.
|
I've upped my B vitamins.....now up yours!
|
sheathe them claws, girlfriend - actually i expected something a little more along the lines of "i've heard....." (subsandwich post)

I don't need studies to tell me that when I put the stuff on, it works.

Hey- thanks smurf. You guys have to be the mosquito experts down there.
I've also been taking B vitamins recently. (orally) Hopefully that helps. |
Does not work against mosquitos or black flies in the Adirondaks. Tried it many times over the years because of the people who kept insisting it worked.
|
Damn, B vitamins don't work for me. I take them fairly regularly, and still get bit.
|
It's working.....the SSS is working! (I haven't been regular with the B vitamins but I put the SSS on every night now). I've spent 2 nights in the yard- I usually get bitten at least once and expand like a red flesh baloon. I'm serious! It's soo perfumey and the smell gets annoying. But by god, I think it's working! I'll update if the mosquito drama changes....

3 cases of West Nile virus in my town this year. :(
Fortunately, I live up on the hill and not in the valley. |
