We believe that here on Arran, too! Our Avon laides do a roaring trade in it as we have the smallest fiercest midges on Earth!

Alright....I don't know yet.....about "SSS"
I am allergic to these mosquitos down here...I'm trying anything......you should see what the little buggers did to my neck.... I also heard it from separate sources. Has anyone else actually tried it and found that it doesn't work as a repellant?

smurfalicious 08-14-2007 02:54 PM

SSS works fabulously on the skeeters down here in swampy South Florida. My family has been using it for 30 years. http://www.comicguide.net/images/smilies/fliege.gif

Oddly, mosquitos do not bite me. They land on me, but they don't like the way I taste, apparently. Someone once told me that it could be because of my Native American blood... http://www.thehealthymom.com/wp-cont...tion/dunno.gif

I have

Studies have shown the only thing that actually works on mosquitoes is deet.
The SSS that works is the one with deet.

I've always heard that "uping" your B Vitamins help with Mosquito Bites, as in helps repel them.

lumberjim 08-14-2007 05:00 PM

I've upped my B vitamins.....now up yours!

jester 08-14-2007 05:07 PM

sheathe them claws, girlfriend - actually i expected something a little more along the lines of "i've heard....." (subsandwich post)

smurfalicious 08-14-2007 05:13 PM

I don't need studies to tell me that when I put the stuff on, it works.

lumberjim 08-14-2007 05:14 PM

rowr!

Cicero 08-14-2007 05:34 PM

Hey- thanks smurf. You guys have to be the mosquito experts down there.
I've also been taking B vitamins recently. (orally) Hopefully that helps.

Does not work against mosquitos or black flies in the Adirondaks. Tried it many times over the years because of the people who kept insisting it worked.

bluecuracao 08-14-2007 07:13 PM

Damn, B vitamins don't work for me. I take them fairly regularly, and still get bit.

Cicero 08-16-2007 06:00 PM

It's working.....the SSS is working! (I haven't been regular with the B vitamins but I put the SSS on every night now). I've spent 2 nights in the yard- I usually get bitten at least once and expand like a red flesh baloon. I'm serious! It's soo perfumey and the smell gets annoying. But by god, I think it's working! I'll update if the mosquito drama changes....

3 cases of West Nile virus in my town this year. :(

Fortunately, I live up on the hill and not in the valley.
