I don't see the video player in the post. Is it just me; or, is the BB code outdated or is there a glitch at vimeo?

I can find it by extrapolating the url; so, I know the video exists:

https://player.vimeo.com/video/222111805

I can see it and play it, in both IE and Chrome.

sexobon 06-22-2017 12:27 AM

Yeah, I see it when I switch to IE.

I still get zilch with Edge though which is the browser I generally use.

Strange as I don't have any filters turned on.

fargon 06-22-2017 09:56 AM

I saw it on chrome.

I did some research. In a nutshell, it seems UT would have to make a small change to the VIMEO BB code for it to work in Edge.

This would appear to stem from the Cellar conversion from http to https. The Cellar is secure; but, the old embed code is not. This creates a conflict for the security fussiness built into Edge.

Meanwhile, there's a small icon at the top of the Edge browser page above which the label "Blocked content" appears when the cursor is hovered over it. Clicking on it gives the option to see all content with another click. I can then watch Vimeo videos in Edge.

IAW Vimeo, the fix would be for UT to edit the Vimeo embed code and remove the "http:" part of the code (leaving "//player.vimeo.com") since Vimeo supports protocol relative URLs. That would ensure that the embed will always follow the protocol of this site, even if it changes again.

My embedded videos always played fine in other browsers but Edge. When in Edge a page with embedded videos is displayed, the thumbnails aren't shown and when I click the icon with a stylised shield on top, the following error message is shown (translated from Dutch):
QUOTE
Content blocked
You see safe content only
Content transmitted by way of an unsafe connection is blocked to protect your data.
UNQUOTE
When the option "View all content" is clicked, the thumbnails come up and videos can be started.
What's up?

It looks like you're using a secure (https) site, but the Vimeo URLs in the iframe embed code on your site are not secure (player.vimeo.com). You can resolve this issue by editing the embed code on your site — just remove the "http:" part of the code. We support "protocol relative URLs" that look like this: "//player.vimeo.com" Using protocol relative URLs will ensure that the embeds will always follow the protocol of your site, even if it changes.

After a good night's sleep I tried your suggestion and YES, it works! Great!

fargon 06-22-2017 09:18 PM

So don't use Edge. This the first I've heard of it.

xoxoxoBruce 06-22-2017 11:05 PM

It comes with Windows 10.

BigV 06-23-2017 02:03 PM

So does Internet Explorer. Use Internet Explorer.

xoxoxoBruce 06-23-2017 02:06 PM

Yes, but Edge does not.

After I clicked on the View all content option in Edge, I was able to view the Vimeo video in the OP. Now; however, I can also view all embedded Vimeo videos directly. It could be that Edge remembered my selection and is continuing to apply it; but, I think it more likely that UT saw this thread and changed the embed code since it would make things easier for many other viewers too.

Correct.

When I'm handed enough detail that the problem can be fixed with less than 60 seconds of my effort, I promise put in that effort.

I guess the discussions concerning the technical part of the video are more important to men that the content of the video qed :-D

xoxoxoBruce 06-26-2017 10:22 AM

That's just a cover up so nobody catches them drooling. ;)
