The bad news is, I took a massive chunk out of my finger with a mandolin slicer a week ago. The good news is, my Wound Seal powder worked great (I'm an easy bleeder, and cuts smaller than this have sent me to the ER for coagulating agents because they just wouldn't stop after 7+ hours.) It stung like a right motherfucker, but it stopped the bleeding, and saved me a $100 copay.

I peeled the big artificial scab off this evening, and now it looks like this:

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I guess I'm sorry about ur finger; but, don't get used to it.

I remember telling Tonchi, somewhere in here years ago, about those wound sealing powders not long after they came out on the market. The powder; also, dressings and sponges that contain it, are nice to have around.

I remember someone here suggesting finely-ground black pepper as a viable alternative, and I will say, the Wound Seal powder sure looked an awful lot like it. Didn't smell like pepper, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn it was an ingredient.

Have you tried a red hot poker? :haha:

It's Kaolin for the products used by the military.

Various ingredients are used by other manufacturers.

ETA: Here's a detailed article on using kaolin clay and cayenne pepper as expedient blood clotting agents:

Nobody else is gonna go there, so I guess I'll do it...

Why on Earth were you trying to slice a mandolin?

My Alzheimer dude insisted on sticking a few hot match heads in a tick bite the other night. Feels good to be alive I guess.

Good News: I was given a .243 and a 16ga double this week.
Bad News: I was asked to ask for them because the old guy has been mixing Alzheimer's, alcohol, and anger.

Griff 12-10-2018 06:12 AM

I have bigger medicine in case of deer but my coyote odds may have been improved, we'll see how it shoots.

Gravdigr 12-10-2018 12:32 PM

.243s have killed more deer than Carter's got pills.
