What you don't realize is that is a secret alien base! In fact, "Predator" was actually a documentary filmed there. I know things. At least that is what the voices say.

Lola Bunny 07-22-2011 08:29 PM

I heard they left. :eyebrow:

Our town can't afford a K9 unit, so I came up with the next best thing - a police snake. I've named him Fred. He isn't too happy right now & he bit the fire out of my thumb, but I'm going to keep him. The next time I go on a disturbance call, I'm going to throw Fred in the door & let him clear the room.

BigV 07-28-2011 03:14 PM

thank you glatt.

Big Sarge, that's funny!

Sic'em Fred!

If he gets laid off (or stepped on) will he be able to get Cobra benefits?

I love the sneaky snake officer!

Looks like a black racer. We had one of those in my yard last year and it was huge. I will try to post a pic later.

Big Sarge 07-28-2011 05:03 PM

I think this one was a spotted king snake. At least I hope he is because he bit me pretty good. Ya'll should have seen me dancing around trying to get him to let go. I bet I could have one the dance competition on "Americas Got talent".

Went on a vacation to western NY state visiting relatives who have a cottage on Lake Ontario at Sodus Point east of Rochester. Here are a few I like.

1. Sunset on Lake Ontario
2. The girls washing up in the lake
3. Sunset reflection
4. Waterfall near the Finger Lakes.

BigV 07-31-2011 08:26 AM

you, sir, are a show-off.

And I love it. Please keep inspiring me, these are wonderful!

chrisinhouston 07-31-2011 09:43 AM

Thanks BigV, after 30+ years of shooting I still get a good feeling inside when I visualize a shot, take the picture and see it come out just the way I wanted it to.

As a sidebar note, the waterfall shot and the sunset were both taken with no tripod. The former was a 2 second exposure, just found a rock ledge to set the camera on. The sunset was taken with a 400mm as I sat in a plastic lawn chair on the beach bracing the lens using the armrests for support; on and that lens also has a built in image stabilizer which helps.

Gravdigr 07-31-2011 06:25 PM

Chris, awesome. As usual.

Think ya could post a shitty pic so I can feel a little better about myself?:lol2:

Lola Bunny 07-31-2011 10:06 PM

He holds their secret—he brings a boon
Where winds moan wild in the dark o’ the moon;
And gold shall glitter and love smile sweet
To whoever shall sever his furry feet!

glatt 08-12-2011 01:25 PM

Does everybody have bunnies? I didn't have them in my neighborhood as a kid, but they are everywhere now.

Undertoad 08-12-2011 01:44 PM

Two big beasts have settled in here. It's very annoying to Pearl when she polices the back yard.

infinite monkey 08-12-2011 01:44 PM

We have bunnehs. Always had bunnehs.

Gravdigr 08-12-2011 03:28 PM

We went a long time w/no bunnehs.

I think that feller is living under Popdigr's shed. Slick goes hours sometimes, lately, sniffin around the edges of that building.

Pico and ME 08-12-2011 04:03 PM

A few years ago there were a lot of cats roaming the area, but they are gone now, so this is a good year for bunnies for us, too. Pico tries and tries to catch them. They are always faster than him.

They're breeding like rabbits here.

Clodfobble 08-13-2011 06:18 PM

None here. I think the deer must be secretly eating them.

Gravdigr 08-14-2011 04:17 PM

They just might be.

But, it's prolly the cows. (Not safe for lunch)

I am still looking for that place that has deer breading like rabbits. Season opens 15 Sept.

Sundae 08-21-2011 10:53 AM

No bunnies in my neighbourhood.
But the 'rents see lots when they housesit.

Hedgehogs here.
And we used to have foxes and badgers, til they built on the land in front of our house.
Not even urban foxes now.

Gravdigr 08-22-2011 02:06 AM

The foxes and badgers didn't like what the hedgehogs built?

ZenGum 08-22-2011 02:46 AM

No, no, no. Read it carefully. The foxes and badgers built. Now they are stay-at-homes and never come out.

Lola Bunny 08-22-2011 12:51 PM
