I just received another bulk shipment of CD's from overstock.com.

I paid $26 for 25 CD's. I'm starting off with Brass Theatre III.

I picked up an extra copy for my father.

Next I'm going to listen to Her High Lonesome Days by The Cat Mary

It should be fun.

Wind Up by Jethro Tull from the album Aqualung.

I *love* Jethro Tull. You probably don't want to get me started. I won't mind, but it's something of an old fogey aquired taste. Sh*t. I'm getting myself started. Ok. click.

Music from the Monster Movies (vol 2)
I was listening to the themes from the old and new Godzilla movies. The King Kong theme sounds pretty good. I think there was a little rearranging, because I don't remember the movie track sounding this good.

I'm kicking myself for not getting volume 1. It was only $1 and had the Twilight Zone theme.

Demon Days from the Gorillaz.
IT ROCKS !!!!!!

There's one in particular of the spy movie ones that has the Man from U.N.C.L.E. theme, In Like Flint, the James Bond Theme. I also have a pile of soundtrack albums including Electra Glide in Blue and Airport, Star Wars IV, V, VI, and some Star Trek records (to name some that I remember offhand).

UTTERLY CLASSIC. The foundation of my Rock and Roll education.

Which answers quite a lot of questions, doesn't it. :leer:

I respectfully disagree! While the Ozzy albums are the strongest (from an album (AOR) POV) some of the Tony Martin and Dio stuff is more than suffiencient to yield it's own compilation of hits. Valhalla, The Shining, Neon Knights, Zero The Hero, Headless Cross. Some great stuff. In fact "The Sabbath Stones" has some of these included. Sabbath is more than just an Ozzy band.

and currently for me... Mayhemic Truth - In Memoriam

Ronnie James Dio... ever read my feelings about fingernails on a chalkboard? *shudder* his voice = fingernails.

disclaimer = although i do love the version of Holy Diver from South Park.

capnhowdy 08-28-2005 03:58 PM

I've always loved Dio's dark, sinister and kickass licks. Holy Diver was prob the best work yet. Vaguely demonic.

When I was "coming up" we called this type of music "heavy".

I just got through listening to Outlaws: Green Grass & High Tides. Not to soften the roll..............

A buddy sent me a bunch of alternative U2 cuts, dance mixes etc... good stuff.

I went to college in Dio's hometown. He left many wannabees behind.
