I give you the Flamboyant Cuttlefish:

Screw Unicorns, Cuttlefish are real magical creatures.

Gravdigr 11-06-2014 02:16 PM

Yes, cuttlefish rock.

And they are not of this world.

Well, these things happen.

Without a word of a lie, while viewing this I was getting banner ads for Auto Trader Farm with the slogan 'Looking for good quality farm machinery'?

Gravdigr 11-14-2014 03:16 PM

Oof.

Dude was ok, minor concussion. Roll cage collapsed somewhat, but, his custom racing seat saved him.

At $700 I'd say he got a bargain.

A while back I posted an animation of 24hrs of air traffic in and around the UK.

Here's a rather more elaborate and up to date version.

Just look at the early morning eastbound flow over the North Atlantic.
The Oceanic tracks aren't set in stone, so to speak, but are varied according to weather systems, departure points and destinations of traffic.

If I'm awake between 0400 and 0600, and I usually am, I can hear aircraft overflying to continental Europe.
There's barely any ambient noise and, although they are five miles or more up, they can be heard quite distinctly.

Interesting to watch the planes that have been forced into a holding pattern, most repeat the pattern pretty accurately.

Yet another job left to the electronics!

The days of timing the outbound leg, flying a rate one turn at each end and allowing for drift have long since passed.

Fings ain't what they used to be.:(

Now, I may be showing my dimness here, but, how is this possible?

I get the shadows of the vortices on the bottom of the pool. How does the color from the food coloring show up in place of what should be either a shadow, or, nothing?

Gravdigr 11-25-2014 03:16 PM

Otherwise, that was pretty frieakin' cool. Thanks, HapMo.
