thats a rather interesting trend - isn't it?

chicago bears[-9.5] vs detroit lions the chicago bears, has had the greatest defence in the nfl for many years now. in the past years, their attack has been under par, leaving the defence too much work to do, which resulted in the defence's numbers not reflecting reality. their attack this season includes qb cutler, who will come into stride with wr hester, who's speed is of the absolute elite, many questioned his hands, however, he's been working on it, and now is a true big play number 1 reciever. cutler will also, in time, get to know the value of rb forte, who's hands may be better than philadelphia's rb westbrook. ullracher is out for this season, downgrading their linebacker situation, but make no mistake, this bears defence is the elite. the lions are building a very good team, but imho, they'll need to draft 1-2 years to fill up some holes in the team the spread is big, but are so are the differences between these two teams. bet on the chicago bears *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* new england patriots[-1.5] vs baltimore ravens it does not take an expert, all you have to do is watch. if you've watched, then you know that this patriots defence, is about as weak as a defence can be. i underestimated this ravens attack at the start of the season. the ravens will not have trouble scoring in this game. the patriots attack is not quite what it used to be. it will be seriously tested against this elite ravens defence. i will be suprised if the superior team does not win this game. bet on the baltimore ravens *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* minnesota vikings[-3.5] vs green bay packers the packers passing game looks like its gonna have a good day in this one. bet on the green bay packers *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* |

eastern conference atlantic this division is without doubt, the best in the east. i know that i projected the penguins to dominate from 2008 through to 2010, but i think a few other teams have caught up to them. chris pronger joins the flyers, putting them immediatly into contention. gaborik joins the rangers, upgrading their attack, putting them into contention. its hard to say which team will be at the bottom of the standings between the devils and islanders. northeast the boston bruins remain contenders, and should be on top of this division. the rest of the teams here are well behind boston, and yet not too far from each other. ottawa and montreal seem to be a tad superior to the building leafs and the fallen sabres. southeast washington may not win this division as easy as some expect. tampa bay picked up gold in hedman at the draft, and will dominate this division for years to come because of it. we'll see how fast that will take effect... i would not be suprised if they started showing halfway through this season. atlanta, florida and carolina seem to be a little further back, and should be below the playoff line. western conference central i will be suprised if detroit manages to be in the top 3 of this division at the end of the season. chicago, st.louis and columbus are very good teams, and should all make the play-offs. nashville is out of luck. northwest this division has become quite weak. calgary holds some good players, but you can't really consider them as some of their lines remain under par. minnesota is a well run team and should be ahead of some of the teams here. edmonton and colorado are well under par and will be below .500. vancouver is the perfect example of how not to run a team. easily the worst franchise in hockey. a bunch of overaged, overpaid men playing in front of a mediocre goalie. pacific the san jose sharks are in a class of their own here, and should have no competition at winning this division. the anaheim ducks, despite holding some serious youngsters, are probably drafting. la, phoinex and dallas are all still below par, and should not be considered contenders to represent the west. |
no chart or graph, but color is nice too :)

ok, so we're coming off our best week of the season.
our base went through, with an overall 4 out of 5 = great profit. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* minnesota vikings[-3.0] vs baltimore ravens the minnesota vikings are really not as good as some percieve. the vikings attack faces its biggest challenge yet. on the other side of the ball, the ravens should be able to score against minnesota. the ravens should win this game. bet on the baltimore ravens *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* new orlean saints[-3.0] vs new york giants no suprise in the saints success this season... their attack is of the absolute elite, and their defence has picked up a bit from its under par season last year. but don't even begin to compare the saints to the giants, they are leagues apart. eli manning is truly out of this world. the giants running game is unbelievable, while the defence remains well above par. the new york giants are truly the elite in the nfl. its kinda funny that the saints are favorite here. the only way one could consider the saints favorites here is if the giants decide to throw the game to rest. bet on the new york giants *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* tampa bay bucs vs carolina panthers[-3.5] i was watching the nfl network, and i couldn't believe that they named the bucs the absolute worst team in the nfl. what tf have they been watching. the bucs are actually a pretty good team, and under no circumstance can they compare with the lesser teams in the nfl. this is a pretty good match-up here, but you'd have to like the bucs to win here at home against a seriously under par panthers team. bet on the tampa bay bucs *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* washington redskins[-6.5] vs kansas city chiefs the chiefs should've beat the under par cowboys last week. the redskins are a much better team than the cowboys and should have no problem beating the chiefs, who's future see's them at the pit of this game for several years. bet on the washington redskins *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* new england patriots[-9.5] vs tennessee titans a part of me wants the titans to lose this game, but they face a weak patriots team that should not be able to stop their attack. tennessee should be able to win their first game of the season against this well under par patriots team. 9.5 points is crazy here. bet on the tennessee titans *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* san diego chargers[-3.5] vs denver broncos this is actually a very lop-sided game. the broncos, apart from beating a good bengals team 12-7 in week 1, have not faced a good team this season [browns, raiders, cowboys, patriots]. the chargers are by far, a superior team, who will run all over this broncos team. how perceptions change as the weeks go by. this is easily the base of this week. bet on the san diego chargers *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* |

reminds me of two seasons ago around this time where the patriots won by 50 something points...of course they went on for the rest of the season losing 11 games in a row against the spread ending in that loss against the new york giants.
its all about perception lj, but don't get the wrong idea about your cowboys... people's perception is that the cowboys suck...in this particular case, the cowboys actually do suck...but you always have the option of changing teams. |
if the result of last week in people's perception is that the saints are gonna play the patriots in the superbowl, then we found greater success than the week before.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* houston texans[-3.0] vs san fransisco 49ers this is a good match-up. the difference in this one i think, is the 49ers defence, which is, without doubt, much greater than that of the texans. bet on the san fransisco 49ers *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* tampa bay bucs vs new england patriots[-14.5] the patriots loss in the superbowl 2 years ago was the most highly wagered lop-sided bet ever made in any sport. leading up to that superbowl, anyone who had wagered on the patriots in any of their last 11 games, lost their money. it does not alter perception, and as long as the masses, wager together, they're gonna be losing their money. you can use those little words like conspiracy and coicidence all you want, it won't change the fact that the masses will continue to lose their money... and i will be here to collect it. bet on the tampa bay bucs *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* dallas cowboys[-3.5] vs atlanta falcons the falcons have a better attack than the cowboys, there is no doubt about that. no teams defence is as bad as the cowboys, so the falcons have the upper hand there as well. the only thing the cowboys really have in their favour in this game is their stadium. this is lop-sided, and we get 3.5 points. bet on the atlanta facons *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* miami dolphins vs new orlean saints[-7.0] yes, the saints attack is elite, its been that way for some time, no suprises. if you've been watching, the dolphins attack has yet to be stopped. there getting 5-6 yeards on average with that wild cat formation. i doubt the saints defence is gonna be the first to stop them. and if they can't, then drew won't be on the field that much now will he. the dolphins can win this game, 7 points is huge. bet on the miami dolphins *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* |

i can see why you'd be upset for having such a shitty team lj, but don't take it out on me.... its not my fault that your defence sucks.
i'm just the messenger.....i'm the guy that informs you what shape your team is in..... if you had listened to me, instead of getting all upset about it, you'd have changed teams a long time ago. your acting as if i play some kind of part in how shitty your team preforms..... take a reality check there lj mmkay |
WHERE WAS THIS ACTING NOW?
|
in this thread here.
my record on calling cowboys games is actually pretty good. 2 years ago when they had a good team, i'd call more wins than losses for them and they'd get them....last year when they started to suck i started calling it against them and you started getting all pissed off, accusing me of calling games against your shitty team. this season, your team is about as weak as its ever been, so yeah, if you really really want me to just avoid giving your teams losses than just say so, but don't start blaming me for your teams weakness. |
Jimmy,
with all sincerity..... my whole point in heckling you in this thread is that you have no clue about picking games. The entire concept that ANYONE has a clue is a big joke. The idea that you thinking that you're better at picking games than me or tony or anyone else is a big joke, and we are all laughing at you. that's why people enjoy seeing you fail. because you put up this front like you have a clue....and crow like a motherfucker when you actually get one right...but NEVER cop to it when you blow it like you did last week. you're a tool.....but your our tool...so keep it up! |
lj, this thread is about making money.
its a about making profit through betting. this thread has made profit for those who have used it for its purpose. you obviously haven't read it since you didn't even know i wa an eagle fan. as far as tools are concerned, the cellar would be considered my tool, not vice-versa |
My pet theory is that the oddsmakers are taking your pet theory into account now.
I just looked at last year's standings against the spread. Teams with poor records do poorly against the spread and teams with good records do well against the spread. Eight teams had 5 wins or fewer, and none of them had a winning record against the spread. Eleven teams had 11 wins or more (including playoffs) and only 2 of them had losing records against the spread. This seems to be counter-intuitive as under the W.HI.P theory, people should be betting with winning teams and betting against losing teams. |
I looked at the year before and the same principle applied then too. I'm not sure why, but I am now issuing

if you're gonna make a statement like that, you'd best have your facts straight first. |

Whuddever Whup. I don't care that much. How about your facts? Can you give me a figure? I could make something up and are you going to go back 90 pages and fact-check me? not bad.... if you managed to bet every day of the year over the past 3 years and you're only down 175 bucks....thats not bad at all.

since this thread is about making profit, lets take a deeper look into it.
lets take 3 weeks in the nfl as an example. lets say we bet a defencive system amongst 6 games for each of these 3 weeks, without a base. thats 20 bets a week, times 3 weeks = 60 bets. lets put 100 bucks on every bet, times 60 = 6.000 bucks. week 1, we go 5/6.... thats 10 winning bets, at 700 a bet = 7.000 bucks week 2 we go 0/6 week 3 we go 0/6 although we only got 5 right out of 18 games, we made a thousands dollar profit over the 3 weeks. usually, all you really need is 1 good week, every 3-4 weeks to be ahead. having a bad week is in the plan. |
now lets say we make a long term bet on baseball, on who will win the american league east ....we take an outsider that pays 67/1.
we bet 200 bucks on it. if it wins[see tampa bay rays in 2008], you make 13.400 dollars. basically, you can bet 200 dollars on who will win the american league east for the next 66 years, lose every single bet over the 66 years, and still be in the profit zone. |
this thread is about more than that.
this about teaching people how to bet, cause they really don't know. over 90 percent of people bet in a way that they require 100 percent of their picks to go through to cash in. this is just not gonna work in your favour, cause you're gonna lose. my defencive system is so good, that even with a terrible week in the nfl pointspread, where you go 5/9, you don't lose a dime ....you get you money back with 5 right and 4 wrong. the main focus of anyone wagering on profesional sports, should be long term bets. it requires knowledge on sports, knowledge which i have, more on some sports than others. |
Are you going for the most consecutive posts record? You have 4 to go. Bet you can't do it, and retain relevance. ;)

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* san diego chargers[-6.5] vs kansas city chiefs i'm not really grasping how this chargers team is underachieving. jammer and cromartie are amazing cornerbacks. merriman is one of the absolute elite defencmen in the nfl. gates is the tiger woods of tight ends. rivers is without doubt one of the 5 greater qb's in the game. the running game, although not as amazing as past years, is still stellar. the chargers aren't quite as rich as some other teams in the wr department, but they're at least par. so why tf is this team not dominating i can't figure it out. to compare this team to the chiefs is really silly. kc gives[at the time] a record breaking contract to an under par rb. they top that this season, by giving a high paying multi year contract to a qb that has no buisness playing even as a 3rd string qb in the nfl. bet on the san diego chargers *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* i'll take the initiative in surfacing ut's picks in this post. good luck man. LJ...you can't point at my team and say anything without cutting your own throat.
wasn't it this eagles team that beat your broke-back mountain boys, like 50-0 when it counted. and there's no doubt, last years cowboys team was much better than this one... so wtf are you on about? |
The Eagles made the Skins suck. 6 sacks, 1 int, 4 forced fumbles out of which 3 were recovered by the Eagles, many busted plays. The Eagles play for the turnover and they got 4 of them.
|
Aside from 2 plays by Jackson, the Eagles offense was pathetic. The Redskins were thankfully more inept than the birds. They were in McNabb's face most of the time and "Big Red" NEVER called screens to take advantage their aggressive offense. McNabb was consistently off target as usual and even the one TD pass to Jackson was horribly under-thrown. Andy is overrated and yet will still get his extension for 3-5 years in a week or so. McNabb is inaccurate, makes poor decisions, locks onto receivers, cannot read through his progressions and has the "happy feet" again. There were many opportunities for him to step up and make the throw, but he didn't. Until they are both gone the Eagles will not win the championship.

smaller teams like the broncos have to depend on early form to get wins... i remember the lions a few years back that started 6-2 or sth like that, people were actually talking about superbowl material. they ended up losing the next 27-28 games. now, the broncos aren't in as bad of a state that the lions were in, but they're far from being play-off material. i'd be suprised if the superior chargers don't win that division. the falcons can lose by 10 points or less, and we'll win. however, i'm also suggesting that ya'll put a couple hundred on the falcons winning the game straight up as it pays a fortune. the reason why it pays so much is because of people's perception on the saints being a superior team, when in reality, the falcons are clearly superior. |
