Oh buggeration....yes wrong thread lol. And that's exactly the kind of movie I had in mind.
Today I ate a pub lunch. It was my friend Craig's 24th birthday and I usually buy him lunch on his birthday down at the Plummet Line. I didn't take camera (booo!) so will have to rely on description instead. We both had 'Smothered Chicken' which is chicken breast smothered in a rich barbeque sauce and topped with bacon and cheese (melted). Served with chips (proper pub chips) and peas (Craig had beans) and on the side, I had mini cobs, with were bigger than I imagined and there were three of them, served with cajun spicy butter. Craig had onion rings. Pub portions are ridiculous. Somehow I managed to eat most of it just because it was so damn tasty, but my did I feel bloated after! |
Avocadostan continued
Not a song that will make any top 10, but perhaps relevant to the topic at hand... ---------------------------- Song by Jens Lekman... i was slicing up an avocado when you came up behind me with your quiet brand new sneakers your reflection i did not see it was the hottest day in august and we were heading for the sea for a second my mind started drifting you put your arms around me you put your arms around me you put your arms around blood sprayed on the kitchen sink whats this? i had time to think i see the tip of my index finger my mind is slowly creating a link from your mouth speaks your lovely voice the best comments ive ever heard oh honey you've cut off your finger i bet thats gotta hurt you put your arms me you put your arms me you put your arms around i must've passed out on the porch id never seen so many bright stars when i wake up im in the waiting room of the local e.r. my hand is wrapped in toilet paper and my shirts all blood red i see you standing there like an angel and i say baby i must be dead you put your arms around me you put your arms around me you put your arms around me |
Speaking of avocados, I was inebriated, shall we say, last night and when dinner time came I made myself a nice guacamole sandwich on olive loaf. :yelsick:

Okay - I can believe I ate it, but this seems the most appropriate thread.
I had the Polpette al Forno. Beef meatballs, fire-roasted peppers, caramelised onions, garlic, chillies, pomodoro sauce and penne. The olives scattered randomly on top are from my Mum's pizza. I forgot to ask for it without olives -oops! She didn't mind. For one thing she wanted me to order because my Italian pronunication is better than hers, and for two they're so easy to remove! Mum had the Napoletana pizza. Marinated king prawns, tuna, anchovies, black olives, caramelised onions, capers and dill. The pic does not do it justice. It was too fishy for my taste, but it certainly wasn't undercookd or flabby, which I think it looks in the photo. Dad had lasagne (boooooring!) and we decided that did not warrant a photo. |
Bed time snack. Raisins, dried cherries, frosted mini shredded wheat with a dab of vanilla ice cream. Nite all
|
Sundae Girl that meal looks... glorious. Did you manage to eat all that?

I hate this thread. grumble.

Sauteed beet greens, zucchini, spring onions and farfalle pasta. With a little diced chicken for Mr. Pie, bits of smoked salmon for yours truly. Cherries for dessert.
The day before it was bbq turkey meatloaves with a saute of green peas, radishes and spring onions. All veggies from our farm share -- we're getting more today. |
Moving so quickly from oven to plate that it didn't even show up on film...
Made some cornbread last night. Monster Cornbread. Four Cheese Cornbread. Okay - monster because she sent it to me, as a complete darling. Four cheese because that's what I added, just what we had in the fridge. Parmesan, mature (sharp) Cheddar, Welsh goat's cheese and danish Blue. I couldn't resist a piece warm from the baking tray. Nor could Mum. By the time they came home from Mass there were only 3 pieces left and they disappeared under our combined assault. It was really, really good. I'll take a pic next time, I promise. I still have a packet to go. I've been saving it for a special occasion, and having that many different cheeses ready to go was one :) Added some Italian Herbs & Garlic - lazy but useful. And Cajun Spices - enough to give a sniff of a kick, little enough so that Mum could enjoy it too. I learned from eating a whole pan of Kick Yo Ass Hot that you can overdose on spicy cornbread... |
Can't Believe I Just Ate...
...a Sally Lunn. The yeast-risen kind, I understand, from the castmember who baked it for us.
Came out a bit dry, but the whipped cream and the jam rescued matters. Syd thinks she might try a slightly shorter baking time as long as she's using a Bundt pan. A Sally Lunn Recipe and commentary Might try whipped-creaming 'em and parking them in the fridge overnight to moisten. |
Indian food. Always gives me the runs. :yeldead:

Pizza makes me fart, Zero makes me burp.
Apparently, if I was dating half of the guys I work with, they would of dumped me about 10 minutes ago. |
