May 2nd is my birthday - my wedding anniversary used to be June 18th Cyclefrance, that is before I kicked him to the curb.

35 French years

I don't know how much is it in US units.
70 gallons, 21 stones or 1360.497 miles ?... :eek6:

I will note that against my birth date as something of extreme significance _ ex hubs (or rather disposal of same) should definitely take precedence over ex Beatles (Ringo and Paul must be well into pension age by now anyway)....

I'm pretty sure that in imperial measures that equates to at least 10 furlongs which as anyone knows is 220 chains - that makes you an FBA* I believe.

My birthday is Feb. 29, 1964; so that makes me really only 10. I'll have to wait until 2008 before I get a 'happy birthday' from any of you hippies.

Interesting, thanks for the stats. We need to update the cellar's tagline with something to the effect of "Over 1700 years life experience, just a click away" or something like that (but better).

Buddha 09-08-2005 12:20 PM

I'll be 2,564 years old next April 8, and I must say that I don't feel a day over 2,000. ;)

Pushing fifty hard, at seven times seven.

I never get carded. The gray in my beard lends me gravitas, while the thinning hair on top lends me sunburn.

CycleFrance, this board supports hand-entering ASCII code, so you can be as bien agé as you like, with (use the keypad on the right side of the clavier) Alt + 0233. Accent grave - è - is Alt + 0322. Hold down Alt and input the numbers.

  • 1682 - Louis XIV of France moves his court to Versailles.
  • 1937 - Hindenburg disaster: The German zeppelin Hindenburg catches fire and is destroyed within a minute while attempting to dock at Lakehurst, New Jersey. Thirty-six people are killed.

  • 1945 - Bob Seger, American singer
  • 1953 - Tony Blair, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
  • 1961 - George Clooney, American actor

deaths -
  • 1862 - Henry David Thoreau, American author and philosopher (b. 1817)
  • 1910 - King Edward VII of the United Kingdom (b. 1841)
  • 1992 - Marlene Dietrich, German actress (b. 1901)
  • 1995 - Maria Pia de Saxe-Coburg-Gotha-Braganca (b. 1907)
  • 2002 - Pim Fortuyn, Dutch politician (assassinated) (b. 1948)

All of this stolen from Wikipedia's wonderful calendar feature.

And for me reading glasses. I'm always pushing mine to the top of my head, and searching frantically around for them, a spare pair would be nice. I could then walk around the house with TWO pairs of reading glasses on top of my head, wondering where I'd misplaced them.

Oh, and big bottles of aspirin for my arthritis. A walker would be nice, but I could make do with a cane in a pinch (good for clubbing boy scouts attempting to help me across the street)! :D

Brett's Honey 09-08-2005 05:47 PM

Also excluded from BigV's numbers are.....BigV's age! (Unless I've missed it somewhere). He said to just do the math. Let's see...elder SonofV just went to college....my son turned 18 this year and I'm 46......so you're about 46 BigV?

(I assume he's probably younger since I had my son at 27 and my daughter at 30, but I thought doing the math and making him 46 might make him reveal his true age!)

marichiko 09-08-2005 07:05 PM

I think that brat, Aske, is gonna need to redo the stats. All by himself the Buddha raises the average age here to 49 (didn't feel like adding up everyone else's ages, too). Old fogies ROCK! :D

I make it a point to avoid telling people my age, especially at work. I always have to go through a "Really? No, seriously??" ordeal, and sometimes even have to fish out my driver's license. And in the end, I inevitably lose respect since I turn out to be younger than people think I am.

Hmm, you have a point there. But I updated this on my first list on page 5 already. So it feels like I'm repeating myself. Whereas at word association... ^_^;;;; it's not?

You rang?

BigV 09-09-2005 12:04 PM

Also, (as he pads his post count), ashke, thank you for including me on your list. A couple of questions: 1 -- what does your user title mean? and 2 -- could you explain the difference in mean age and median age and why they're two different things and yet are the same number. Pretend you're explaining it to a six year old, because in the following forty I didn't learn anything new about statistics. Thanks in advance.

wolf 09-09-2005 12:12 PM

Mean is the average you learned to do in school. That means that you add up all the numbers and divide by the number of numbers.

The median is the actual middle. The median is a more stable measure than the "average" because the average gets pulled +/- by extremely high and low values (like Buddha ...) If the mean and the median are the same, that usually means that you have a nice bell curve-y distribution.

You don't want to know about the mode. You just don't.

ashke 09-09-2005 12:25 PM

@_@ I just went back to the median formula. Ergh, I'm wrong! The median age now should be 36 instead of 35. :wstupid:

I suppose I could add mode since it'll make up the 3 Ms. Mode is the value that occurs most often.

BigV: My user title means "How are you?" in Chinese.

BigV 09-09-2005 12:53 PM

wolf: Thank you. That's very helpful.

ashke: Thank you, also very helpful. Your English is impeccable, can you render your title into phonetic English? I'd like to know how to say "How are you?" in Chinese. But the character set there utterly defeats me.

Trilby 09-09-2005 02:23 PM

Could everybody just stop wondering about how to say shit in Chinese? For ONCE? Everytime some poor Chinese dude or dudette (yet to see) saunters by here everyone hails them for interpretations! It's really quite embarrassing. Learn your own Chinese! They've obviously learned a bit of English! Sheesh!

BigV 09-09-2005 02:38 PM

Hey, Brianna:

http://www.formosa-translation.com/c.../bb/bzz130.gif

Look it up. Or, you could ask ashke to translate it for you.

marichiko 09-09-2005 02:56 PM

What's up with you, lately, Brianna? BigV was just expressing a friendly intrest in Aske's language. When I tried to make peace with you on the "learned helplessness" thread and said I'd back you and that you were just a DIFFERENT sort of TOUGH girl then Wolf, you wouldn't have any of it.

Chill out. Please?
