They called it sirloin, but it tasted more like meat paste.

BigV 06-29-2005 02:54 PM

p'raps you forgot to combine it with some fairy gravy and some scrumptious reagents.

dar512 06-29-2005 03:33 PM

Tuna salad sandwich, cheetos and flavored seltzer water.

plthijinx 06-29-2005 03:36 PM

Del Taco bailed out of the houston market. i used to go there everyday in summer school.

well i guess i'll be throwing a slab of meat on the grill when i get home. just which one? the T-bone steak or the beef fajitas?

lumberjim 06-29-2005 03:43 PM

we had sushi today. yum.

our favorite local chinese restaurant recently renovated and added a sushi bar. score!

Radar 06-29-2005 03:45 PM

I went home for lunch and had home made thick pork chops, soup, and rice my wife cooked for me, and it was damn good. :)

there's a buffet on the south side that's pretty freakin' good. their sushi is fresh and good. but your right for the most part, your playing russian roulette.

there is a place over in Kemah that's a BAD ASSED sushi bar called ichibans. doing a web search i see that they have restaurants here and there throughout the country.....

wolf 06-30-2005 01:20 AM

It may not be a chain, as "Numbah One" is a pretty common Name for Japanese Restaurants.

Clodfobble 06-30-2005 10:59 AM

Especially since it can also mean "best."

plthijinx 06-30-2005 11:03 AM

ahh ha soooo.

Queen of the Ryche 06-30-2005 02:17 PM

sushi from buffet = BAD - most don't have the equipment to keep it at the proper temperature = BACTERIA BREEDING GROUNDS. (P.S. - sushi at a Chinese restaurant? I though Sushi was Japanese......but whaddo I know.....)

Today: Jamba Juice - Peanut Butter Mooed w/ extra bananas....yummy!

Happy Monkey 06-30-2005 03:20 PM

The Chinese buffet restauraunt I sometimes go to has everything from your standard American Chinese fare to lasagna, salmon, sushi, ribs, crab legs, roast chicken, soft serve ice cream, and all sorts of random stuff.

plthijinx 06-30-2005 04:08 PM

HUGE BBQ baked potato

that Grand Buffet place must do it right then, i've eaten there many times and not had a problem. then again there is usually 2 waiters servicing the sushi buffet at all times.

Queen of the Ryche 06-30-2005 04:16 PM

cool - just looking out for fellow Cellarites! Don't want to see the "food poisoning thread" start.....

jinx 06-30-2005 04:25 PM

I've gotten violently ill from eating sushi at various places, including King Buffet (and I ordered it there, didn't get the buffet), and a really nice place that we still frequent. It's worth it. Whatever doesn't kill us... right?

Queen of the Ryche 06-30-2005 04:27 PM

call me a snob, but personally I prefer food that doesn't make me puke my guts out the next day.........

jinx 06-30-2005 04:31 PM

Snob.

plthijinx 06-30-2005 04:37 PM

lmao! (wipes tears away) i needed that!

yeah, i suppose that sometime it will happen. i love raw oysters but like the saying goes, i won't eat them in the months that don't have an "R" in it. i've gotten sick from oysters but not sushi, not yet anyway. there's a local grocery store here (well statewide) that has fresh sushi made daily and i'll run through there and grab an assorment pack from time to time. been lucky in the game of russian roulette of sushi......

Hobbs 06-30-2005 05:30 PM

The boss-man bought us all pizza today. Pizza Hut I believe.

wolf 07-01-2005 01:32 AM

Tonight I had Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak.

I suppose it was more dinnerish, since I ate it around 2000 hrs, but it was the middle of my shift, that's technically lunch, right?

Queen of the Ryche 07-01-2005 11:22 AM

sure, whatever you want to call it. if I eat waffles at 8 at night, is it still breakfast? or is there a special name for night-time waffles?

Happy Monkey 07-01-2005 11:49 AM

I just had an IHOP breakfast sampler with a carafe of OJ for lunch...

wolf 07-01-2005 12:42 PM

HM, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to scoot on over to the Supreme Court Building and find out what's being served in the Cafeteria today ... we need to know what Justice Sandra Day O'Connor is having for lunch too.

plthijinx 07-01-2005 01:02 PM

well i'll go look in at antone's and see if she's getting a po-boy!

Elspode 07-01-2005 01:05 PM

Combination last day before the 4th, closing day lunch prepared on site by our fireplace guy...KC strip w/potato salad, baked beans and cheescake for dessert (okay, so he made the steaks).

Mmmmm....took away the last shred of motivation that I had.

plthijinx 07-01-2005 01:07 PM

what topping on that cheesecake sir?

capnhowdy 07-01-2005 01:23 PM

Rueben sandwich (altho they called it a sammich) and cool cucumber salad w/yogurt & sour cream dressing. All this while I was picking up a paycheck. No wine, what a drag. I was, however dreaming of a white Zinfindel....................

suddenly I want cheesecake. Thanks guys. I'll have blueberry topping of course.

I miss me some Del Taco. They don't come a'east of the Pecos, apperantly, cuz I haven't seen one east of Arizona.

Bastards.

I should franchise one. Big money big money big money STOP!

Damn. Whammy.

We have several here in St. Louis.

OnyxCougar 07-20-2005 03:45 PM

of course you do. unfortunately, I dont live near St. Louis.

elSicomoro 07-20-2005 03:54 PM

There's one in St. Simons Island, GA...that's what? 4 or 5 hours away? :)

Queen of the Ryche 07-20-2005 04:00 PM

Trader Joe's Fiesta Chicken Salad. Big Yum. (A wee tad healthier than Del Taco.)

elSicomoro 07-20-2005 04:04 PM

I had a couple of frozen burritos for lunch. For dinner, maybe I'll have a couple of fish tacos from Del Taco in OC's honor.

I hear you can get one on Ebay for reeeeeal cheap these days. Either that, or I'll box one up and ship it out to you. The postage is going to kill me though.

BigV 07-20-2005 04:45 PM

2 Attachment(s)
Costco 1/4 pound polish, 20 oz lemonade and a Very Berry sundae, $3.32, thankyouverymuch.

Here's pic of yesterday's lunch site, (subway 12" seafood, the works). Sandwich doesn't appear in picture.

lookout123 07-20-2005 04:51 PM

subway club on wheat. MLT

Hobbs 07-20-2005 05:33 PM

Frozen Marie Calandars chicken fried steak. Corn on the cob doesn't do well in the microwave btw.

Clodfobble 07-20-2005 08:06 PM

Leftover turkey chili and corn cakes made from a "Rachel Ray's 30-Minute-Meals" recipe. I love that show.

Wrap the corn with waxed paper after buttering, salt and pepper.

wolf 07-21-2005 12:55 AM

Acme had deli ham buy one pound, get one pound free.

I am going to be eating ham for a while.

I have to decide whether one can reasonably cook a ham and cheese omelet and microwave it back to life.

Probably not. Even if the egg would survive the microwaving, I can't eat an omelet without good crispy toast. Good cripsy toast is not an option at the nuthouse.

melidasaur 07-21-2005 12:57 AM

Jimmy John's Tuna sub... mmmmmmm!

I love Jimmy Johns...

wolf 07-21-2005 12:58 AM

I thought they only did Hot Dogs?

Nevermind. You're not in SE PA.

melidasaur 07-21-2005 02:32 AM

As far as I know, they just do sandwiches... it is a chain. The corporate headquarters is here in town, so they are literally everywhere in town.

Trilby 07-21-2005 03:45 AM

I'm going to pretend that I am Audrey Hepburn (watched BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S last night) and exsist on air. I'll eat virtually nothing for lunch and try to regain my human shape.

I had the fruit salad with sour cream & yogurt dressing from her show not long ago. Fabulous....
I love her show too. And Rachel aint too bad, either.. :luv:

elSicomoro 07-21-2005 07:22 AM

I work from 10-2 today (my current primary money-maker is delivering pizzas for a local chain), so I'll probably have a sandwich and some cheese garlic bread afterwards.
