Cow tipping sounds like more fun.

Canine assisted crisis intervention is really for disaster and post-disaster work ... you send out trained handlers and dogs. The dog acts as an icebreaker, gets people talking to the crisis specialist where they might not otherwise. There's more to it than that, for example there's a particular crisis intervention/stress management model that gets used, but it works well.
Turns out that a batch of these folks are located in the next county up, and they are more than willing to come down for calls where we think we might be able to use them. (this is for my volunteer gig, not my job, although it would be cool to have a dog at work) |
Gosh. If you ever need Pearl for such a thing, do PM or call.
http://cellar.org/2007/goofypearl.jpg She'd be an excellent icebreaker |

what is that thing on the side of your head, with the hole in it? And your mouth is bent. Some new special fx software? wtf?

Are you trying to go all respectable on us? NOOOOO!

Cool new look Ibram
even if it looks like you took the picture underwater... Tomorrow lunchtime I am going to see my parents, who are in London housesitting. They will treat me to lunch, and hopefully notice I have lost weight :) Saturday I'm doing Bums, Tums and Thighs at the gym. No promises that this will be a regular class, just figured it was worth a try. Sunday I am rubbing my hands with glee because my next fortnight's money goes into my bank on Monday. Even if it's all spoken for this time. |
Okay, now maybe it's a fair accusation to say you're not aiming to be "my type"... but damn, Ibram, you look so much hotter (and older!) with short hair. For serious.
|
you look good like that ibram.
|
|
I'll second that (or third or fourth or whatever.)
You look good with the new haircut, Ibram. |
Ibby! You look sooooo cuuuute!
I second Clod's post. Also, diggin the flip UT. hehe |
I'm glad you guys like the hair!
I'm still not positive how I like it.. I'll probably warm up to it in a few days. It'll look better in a couple weeks when it gets a little shaggier. The reaction from my classmates've been pretty positive, even though I deny that I did anything to my hair. What haircut? |
Going to the biker bash this weekend !!
Drunkenness , COOL bikes , and random Nudity !!! http://www.backyardbash.com/ |
Tomorrow, I'm going to an event at the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. 21st Century Socialism: rebuilding the Labour Left speakers include John McDonnell MP (the one who was most likely to run against Brown for the leadership) a couple of other speakers I haven't heard before and my own town's MP.
I'm looking forward to it :) It lasts the whole afternoon, with talks and workshops and lunch. Most of my little gang of conspirators are going and so's my mum and a couple of her work colleagues. I've met McDonnell a couple of times and heard him speak at events before. He's a good speaker. After that we'll probably grab a few beers and that's Saturday done :) Sunday will be spent studying the relationship between medieval gilds and the later associations and early trade unions. |
We're going couch shopping tonight.
|
Good luck.
Last time we went couch shopping, it was agony. Finding a comfortable couch that looked decent and was a fair price was not easy at all. Lots of ugly uncomfortable couches out there. Ended up ordering one from Scan and it took like 3 months to come. But it is comfy and looks good. Pricey though. |

I meant couch shopping the old-fashioned way.

I feel a "do not want" graphic coming on.

little lookout's football game tonight, his soccer game tomorrow, and I play four soccer games in the next 48 hours.

Company picnic out at the lake this weekend. I reluctantly agreed to go, tempted mostly by free food, and the promised presence of dogs and other children for Minifob to play with. Plus, since information was distributed through Evite, I could see that for the most part only people I liked had RSVP'ed yes.
|
Lil' Griff has field hockey tomorrow, then we road trip for Lil' Pete's fencing. Are parents weird?
|
weird? no. innovative? yes, i never would have thought to make lil lookout's hobby a money making venture.
Griff: no, no, no. you never ever give him the money until you make sure the stereos work. Lil Pete: I'm sorry dad. does this mean my pimp hand is weak? Griff: i swear lil pete you are never going to break even out here on the street. You have to be strong. ever have one of those moments when you think, "that last cup of coffee might have been unnecessary?" |

Saturday morning: set up tables bright and early for a community yard sale, leave my wife there to sell crap at her organization's table, and take the kids home. Feed them a snack and then take them to daughter's soccer game. After the game, swing by, pick up my wife, and have lunch. The afternoon is free, so I'll either ride bikes with the kids, or work on the house. Watch a DVD with Mrs. glatt that night. Not sure what is next in the queue. Oh, wait, we have "The Office" from last night taped. Might watch that.
Sunday is church in the morning, where my daughter is doing her very first stint as an altar girl. Normally I'm pretty bored at church, but this might be interesting. Then lunch, followed by my daughter going to a birthday party. Afternoon is free, so I don't know what I'm doing. Mrs. glatt and I will probably do something with our son while daughter is at party. Nothing too exciting, but hey, that's life. There's a mixture of planned stuff and free time, so it should be a decent weekend. |
This thread is a real slice-of-life. I like it. It's nice to see the little details of people's lives, to know those things held in common, uniting the thick middle layer of communities around the world.
We so look forward to the big events, but it's really the accretion of the ordinary that form the foundation of our lives and makes those big events possible. |
HLJ - have you posted what your doing this W/E?

The rest of the weekend is consumed, largely, with performing in a community theater production of Winnie The Pooh.
We opened tonight, two shows tomorrow, matinee Sunday. |
I didn't see that coming, many layer onion man.
|
He's playing the owl if I recall correctly?
How'd the first show go down Urbane? |

We ended up buying a matching sofa & loveseat, both reclining. Now we just have to clear enough garbage out of the basement to move our futon down there that's currently in the living room, and get rid of our old loveseat. |
No no no, the love seat goes on the front porch, for the hounds, and the futon goes on top of the Camaro.
#^%*$*@# spellcheck tried to change Camaro to Camry #*%*^#@# |
My brother's birthday was yesterday...we're going out tonight to celebrate it. It's at a bar I don't care for, but as long as they have beer...

Glad you found a couch & loveseat combo. Your living room will look totally different now! |
The apple pressing party was at our house yesterday....I am so........Tired!!!
The natives got restless when we broke the apple press down....so silly.... Someone said "Is this your apple press?" I said no....I just live here. The poor things found apple-pressing to be so addictive they didn't want to stop!!! |
I replaced a smashed power outlet.
I was awakened Friday night when a heavy picture frame fell off the wall right by my head and landed on a plug in the wall, knocking it out. The following morning, I sleepily tried to plug it back in, and was rewarded by a nasty spark, indicating that the bottom of the socket was gone. I'm glad it hadn't caught fire that night. Replacing it went well, though I had to figure out the little tab to remove so the light switch worked on one of the sockets. |
My bachelor party is Saturday. Nothing crazy or exotic, just eating and a pub crawl. If you happen to be in the area:
Silverleaf Lounge (starting point) 3443 Hereford St. St. Louis, MO 63139 6:30 PM |
[quote=Ibram;389627]Ohhh, man.
It is done. [\QUOTE] Just saw these pics. You definately were not bad looking before, but I agree with the others. New look upped your yum factor a couple BIG notches. |
I had no plans, but on a whim have come to see my parents.
Okay, not quite a whim - had a falling out with HM last night and wanted to get away for a while. Especially as I fell spectacularly off the wagon and ended up in the pub round the corner showing my boobies to the landlord in exchange for a drink. And was walked home by a lovely young man who was worried about me walking home alone. Oh dear. Anyway, Mum & Dad don't know this & just think I missed them. Which I did. I haven't been here since last September, so it is lovely to be home. Am currently working my way through Mum's stock of Caffeine Free Diet Coke. Oh I've missed cold fizzy drinks! |

This weekend, finishing up moving into my new apt. in Phoenix and going to the Rainbow Festival. :-)
Next weekend, VEGAS! |
Helping my brother move into his snazzy new digs.
|
Sunday night going, weather permitting, to the first balloon glow at the 2007 Balloon Fiesta here in Albuquerque, NM.

That sounds fun. Be sure to take your camera. |
Absolutely. there will be at least three cameras between the two of us.

Saturday during the day I'll be foldng leaflets, walking the dog, tidying up and emailing calling notices to the executive committee of my local party. Evening, I am off with some friends/comrades and my brother, to see Ross Noble in concert *is very excited*. For those who haven't encountered him, he's a very funny, Geordie comedian.
Sunday, leafletting my own ward in the morning, a comrade's ward in the afternoon and takng then we'll be taking a petition on bus services round an area that's been deprived of its main regular bus into town. Evening will be spent doing as much reading as possible, given I've had very little study time this week (what time I have had has been wasted on pricking about on the Cellar *grins* or listening to jazz to try and relax.) |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:28 AM. |
