We have much to learn at the feet of clear-blooded Rich.

xoxoxoBruce 06-14-2004 02:11 PM

Rich2741 posting on Reagan's funeral at the site Syc mentioned. I read this last night but was waiting to see how he comported himself, before mentioning it. BTW, my family got here in 1628.
Quote:

Although I was pleased to see the crowds to honor President Reagan along the procession route, I have to admit I was shocked and highly disappointed to see almost everyone in 'casual' clothing; as though they were going to a St. Patrick's Day parade. All these people knew a few days ahead of time this was happening; there is no excuse.
Quote:

Sorry Steve, but I have very strong feeling about paying respect to the honorable and following proper etiquette. Breeding, refinement of manner, delicacy of feeling, these are factors at such an occasion. Sorry Steve, but I have very strong feeling about paying respect to the honorable and following proper etiquette. Breeding, refinement of manner, delicacy of feeling, these are factors at such an occasion.

"...along the procession route..."

The journey from 16th and Constitution (opposite the White House) to the Capital building only takes about 50 minutes. It may have been hot and muggy, but there was also a strong breeze and emergency water available (as well as emergency vehicles in the background). If the breeze wasn't enough for you, have the foresight to bring a $2 personal fan.

If you were going on to the viewing, you could have taken your jacket off until you entered the rotunda.

It's called RESPECT. If you have to suffer a little, if you have to suffer a lot, so be it. At the very, very least, the men and boys should have worn a white short sleeve shirt and dark tie. A full suit would actually be proper. Etiquette does not disappear because it's a little hot.

Would you go to the funeral of someone you respected in a T-shirt and shorts? I'm sure you didn't see any dignitaries in casual wear.

I guess I'm a strict, hardened, stuffy, old SOB. Hell, I probably would have deeply bowed my head when the casket was in front of me, instead of sticking a video camera up.

warch 06-14-2004 02:20 PM

Clothes make the man!

glatt 06-14-2004 02:31 PM

The funny thing is, just about everyone has as distinguished a pedigree as Rich. The only difference is that Rich actually has documentation that can trace his.

For example, there are 35 million decendants of the Mayflower Pilgrims. Having ancestors that came over on the Mayflower does not make you special. It makes you one of the teeming millions.

I can trace branches of my family back pretty far, and there are some interesting tidbits there. I can do all this tracing, because some of my relatives and family members have an interest and did all the research. My family tree is interesting, but that's about it. To take credit (or blame) for being born into a particuar family is just insane.

We are all decendants of the group of first humans living in the horn of Africa 4 million years ago. Nobody can trace their family trees back to this beginning. Some can trace back further than others, but that doesn't make them special.

Your actions define you, your ancestors don't.

I hope rich2741 won't leave us. I need his wisdom and all his respect and dignity to become as witty and cool and especially beautiful.

OK. Nevermind. This was a stupid thing to say. We inherit much from our parents and that makes us who we are. Good and bad.

But taking credit for being part of a family is asinine.

My family came over in the 1620's. Some also came over in the 1920's. Which branch do I take credit for?

The first white child born in what is now New York was my ancestor. Another ancestor was know as a mean, lousy drunk who picked fist fights with everyone in his small Pennsylvanian coal mining town. Do I get to take credit for one but not the other?

lumberjim 06-14-2004 03:29 PM

dude, you're not missing anything. i attempted to have a little flame war with him on his site, and it was weak at best. he quickly degraded to 8th grade sexual insults, and off base references to monkies, tutus, and his big brain.

whatevah.

Pi 06-14-2004 03:30 PM

Maybe my ancestors throw you out of Europe because over here we didn't like you and that's why we still don't like you. So we help all the other people in the world to hurt and kill you!

lumberjim 06-14-2004 03:38 PM

jinx, do me a favor and ask the 8ball if rich is busy masturbating at the moment and can't reply.

elSicomoro 06-14-2004 03:48 PM

Slow day at work, eh Jim?

Seriously, let it go...the last thing we need is more of his fuckhead friends coming over here. Not to mention, you fucked with their bandwidth.

jaguar 06-14-2004 03:50 PM

I have to say I'm with syc, if we ignore it it might go get itself garrotted.

elSicomoro 06-14-2004 03:51 PM

HOLY SHIT!!! That site is stealing bandwidth from Cellar! Fucking bastards!

so i linked a couple pics. i already apologized to the boss. i'm not too savvy with the technical end of things.

i'd have deleted the 2 or 3 pics i linked, but then my jokes would not be funny anymore. how are they stealing bandwidth?

elSicomoro 06-14-2004 04:02 PM

Someone did the same thing you did in the thread I linked.

lumberjim 06-14-2004 04:02 PM

hmmmm. wonder if skippy is a member here?

elSicomoro 06-14-2004 04:18 PM

Richiepoo keeps threatening to give you a verbal beatdown, but I haven't seen shit yet.

No, you were right the first time. Just because we inherit and learn from our forebearers, doesn't mean we can/must take credit/blame for their actions.
Should I hang my head in shame because my great whatever was Jack the Ripper. I don't think so.;)

elSicomoro 06-14-2004 04:38 PM

Bruce, when you view the picture itself, this is the address that comes up: http://cellar.org/2004/phillytapes.jpg.

I like the way the poster tried to justify it when Jim called him out on it...

Hey assf**k, I credited the source if you bothered to read so STFU- who the hell is this turkey??????

Of course, that doesn't mean shit...he's still stealing bandwidth from UT.

xoxoxoBruce 06-14-2004 04:40 PM

Tony should change that picture to Goatse.

elSicomoro 06-14-2004 05:30 PM

Did someone else go over there and start shit besides Jim?

Steve 06-14-2004 05:40 PM

A user called upyours. How painfully clever. Give it a rest. I'm not interested in feuding...I don't even know you people.

I believe your quarrel is with Rich. It originated here, let it also end here. I'm asking NICELY now. Which is a lot more than I ever got from you people in the first place.

jaguar 06-14-2004 05:44 PM

*whistles innocently*

Steve 06-14-2004 05:47 PM

Good for you. It takes quite the thinker to be a forum troll. Maybe one day you can be a l33t haX0r just like Jeff K.

steve, i apologize for pooping in your yard. rich did start it, though. fueds are stupid, and you don't seem like a bad guy. as my account over there is now deleted, you can expect no more shenanignas from me as long as rich behaves. go with god. or allah. or rich if he is, as he seems to think, a living deity. just kidding. peace be with you and with your spirit.

jaguar 06-14-2004 05:56 PM

Well listen bitch, we didn't start this, your site is still stealing bandwidth and then you have the nerve to delete posts without even bother to replying.
In short, fuck you.

As I said, in short, keep your animals on a shorter leash.

Two people from here apparently came over and gave you guys some shit. Though that's not cool, in the grand scheme of things, BFD. Block their IP.

Anyone is welcome to post here, so long as they follow the 4 rules, though I suspect folks like Rich might get bored.

Jag, Steve is not responsible for Rich. Rich appears to be a big boy, and we can deal with him appropriately here.

Keep it cool, baby.

Steve 06-14-2004 06:05 PM

Actually my site is NOT stealing your bandwidth, so kindly check thyself.

I take no responsibility for the actions of others, just as I do not expect whoever the forum administrator is here to. You are a disrespectful savage and would be wise to choose your battles more carefully in the future.

In regard to my web hosting packages, first of all, what the hell does that have to do with ANYTHING? Secondly, I'm merely a reseller dude. I have no say in it at all.

I deleted your post because you purposely disrespected "My Yard" as it's come to be called. It's a dead issue as far as I'm concerned and if it persists, I'd prefer for it to be here, where it DID originate. Now, I've tried to be nice about distancing myself from this and that time is now over.

So for the last time, leave me and my site out of your troll brigade and I will kindly not return here. As for Rich, well that's between you all.

lumberjim, I appreciate your attempted sentiment.

jaguar 06-14-2004 06:05 PM

Yea I know, I'm just feeling petty tonight I think. Something about this got my goat, rich seemed keep to carry things over so I was willing to oblige.

If I really wanted to be an ass I'd take advantage of a couple of intersting db flaws in that shitty forum software they're running to cause some real havoc. Fuckit I'm getting back to work.

The point steve is simple, we don't want it here either, he started it here and seemed desperate to carry it over so we obliged. Best thing from here is that rich fucks off and never comes back, the thread on your board delete and we can all forget we ever had to come in contact.

If rich wants to troll around here you can expect the same.

Agreed, glad to delete it. But I see you've edited your post. WTF and I mean that to read in great volume, do you not understand about me not being Rich's keeper. I'm sure he's a member of some other forums too, why not take turns?

Sure guy. see my l33t haX0r remark above. destruction is easy, let's see you make something.

Well, if that's that, then that's that. Farewell.

jaguar 06-14-2004 06:19 PM

Well he seems to love your place, you should be in a position to exert a little pressure on him that will make everyone's lives easier.

I've written forum software, that count?

Come the morning (it's 2am here) I'll regret this mess but ah well.

Steve 06-14-2004 06:28 PM

I am not Rich's keeper. I want you to write that on a chalkboard 5,000,000 times.

I am not Rich's keeper
I am not Rich's keeper
I am not Rich's keeper
I am not Rich's keeper
I am not Rich's keeper
I am not Rich's keeper
I am not Rich's keeper
well you get it...don't you?

Written forum software huh? I can't tell you how much that excites me. My nipples are in fact erect.

Now Mr. Last Word Freak (I recognize my own kind) I'm leaving, barring any fork tongued remarks.

jaguar 06-14-2004 06:37 PM

Well, I'm giving you motivation to be aren't I?
Christ, coercion has never been so difficult to explain before.

Undertoad 06-14-2004 06:47 PM

Christ, Jag, have a gin and tonic and relax in the cool breeze for a while.

perth 06-14-2004 07:05 PM

Actually, Steve seems like a decent guy, I wouldn't mind him hanging around, though I doubt he will. C'mon, he knows JeffK!

Rich, on the other hand, reminds me of mrmarket. Though I suspect Rich is probably a bit less hairy. Because one would almost have to be.

lumberjim 06-14-2004 07:13 PM

I am simply amazed at my luck. I had never even visited a message board before i stumbled in through the IOTD door. Now, I hold other boards (c'mon, we've all looked around on slow days) up to the cellar, and they pale in comparison. vastly. I shudder to think of what kind of a self righteous assmunch I would have turned into if I had taken a toe hold there instead.

Actually, I probably would have discounted the possibility of taking anything of worht from an online forum period.

UT, I want to say thanks again. I also want to congratulate your excellent sense of taste with regards to colors/avatars/siglines. that site looks like someone vommited a carnival.

KUDOS!

lumberjim 06-14-2004 08:14 PM

well, i was being slightly dramatic in order to make a point, but still, the people we talk to on a daily basis have influence on how we act. like it or not. if you hang out with assholes, there;s a pretty good chance you will begin to display assholic tendencies. these guys make you look like alan alda, for chrissakes.

that's also why your coolness quotient has risen since you've known me. ;)

Do as you wish, but we welcome all comers.

It's very rare that anyone commits the unspeakable wrongs ... trying to break the board, using the board to break the law, or being insufferably annoying. Using the board to break the balls is actually okay ...
