If by "kind of neat" you mean "ugly as shit," yeah, I can see where you're coming from.

I hate hate hate the new style of big-nosed trucks, mostly designed by Nissan and Dodge, and the uber-extended cab just makes the truck bed look so ridiculously short and... impotent.

lumberjim 06-21-2005 02:57 PM

SNICKER

Undertoad 06-21-2005 03:21 PM

Ugly or not it's MINE NOW

Dude! I was gonna ask you if it was OK to mention that Jimbo set me up with a fine ride... crew cab, 4x4, V6 and aw hell, today I am finally a man and have me a pickup truck!

I'm gonna go pick it up right from James tonight. Jacquelita says I should get the rifle rack next but I told her I'm gonna put on Calvin peeing stickers if I can find a rice version. :D

Seriously, I'm killing my car hauling my bass gear around all over the place (about 200 lbs of it!), so I decided it was time to make the move. And aside from the fact that James works there, I for one am convinced that Nissan is making the best vehicles today.

On the tw scale, it must be a flat-out horrible engine, producing only about 66 hp/liter. But we have to assume the rules are different for trucks which can tow and haul, where torque is a consideration, and not just a big-ass engine to make this bad boy pretty fast even compared to a lot of cars.

glatt 06-21-2005 03:29 PM

Congratulations on the new ride.

Lumberjim, you are evil, setting UT up like that. :)

Clodfobble 06-21-2005 03:57 PM

Well great. Lemme just go find a crowbar for my foot...

lumberjim 06-21-2005 04:05 PM

tee hee hee

Undertoad 06-21-2005 04:41 PM

zippyt 06-21-2005 05:13 PM

Well Damn UT !!! I guess i'm a goin' ta have to see if'n i can dig up a John Deer hat fer ya !!!

All kidding aside , congrats on the new ride !!!!!!

Rember this dog doesn't turn as sharp as your Vdub and it is longer .

Oh and you will get to enjoy summer a little bit more ( when the loose and breesey female cloths come out !!!!)

Undertoad 06-21-2005 05:22 PM

Jimbo calls to say I did get the silver one and not the gray so now I can share in your shame Clod  I was pretty much unconcerned about the color anyway. And yeah Z, I know, I can't play speed racer any more. :| I had to look deep within my soul to see what I could give up. Trucks are cheap... if I have another midlife crisis and get more flush with dough, I can trade 'er up later!

Griff 06-21-2005 05:33 PM

Any chance they'll get back to a cleaner fender design someday or do people actually go for this? I'm biased pro-Nissan btw I've put some rough miles on my old one.

edit oops didn't intend to pile on didn't realize there was another page...

wolf 06-22-2005 06:32 PM

Congrats, UT.

Undertoad 06-22-2005 09:54 PM

I'm really diggin' it like I thought I might!

And I think Jim actually likes financing for people he sorta knows, and who won't get all uptight and suspicious and stuff.

xoxoxoBruce 06-22-2005 10:12 PM

Well Jax, I guess the boat can't be far behind now. :borg:

Yeah that's like ...like...another person.

Undertoad 06-22-2005 10:32 PM

Wha - hey!! If the gear would get in the back seat and sit pleasantly like another person, no problem!!

xoxoxoBruce 06-23-2005 04:14 AM

So you're just going to throw your stuff in the back of the truck and go...I don't think so. You've got to tie it down. You also have to protect it from the weather. Either a cap or plastic bags or a tarp or tonneau cover.... and a bed liner or mat......and tie down hooks and rope or bungees.

Speaking of songs...You've only just begun....

Undertoad 06-23-2005 07:15 AM

Only the tonneau cover good sir! It comes with a very nice factory spray-on bedliner and this very cool set of moveable tie-down points (the "Utili-track Bed Channel System").

lumberjim 06-23-2005 08:07 AM

that IS extremely cool. makes an otherwise perilous and annoying task seem like buckling your seatbelt. slick. glad you're enjoying the truck. t'was a shame i didnt have more time that night to come out and see you off in it. i was wrong about being there until midnight. i left a t 1:20 am. woof.

Locking? Tied into the alarm? Check with your Ins Agent on posible limits of coverage of things stolen from the bed or the boat. Oh wait...not yet.
Can your write it off if you use it to move the Cellar to a secure server or to sell home grown produce at the train station?
Seriously though, congratulations on the new ride. May all your roads be smooth and all your troubles be under warranty.

zippyt 12-30-2005 10:57 PM

so, uh....clodfobble. what do you think of this ride?

Clodfobble 03-15-2008 10:05 PM

Man, no one lives anything down around here, huh?

It's very nice! I like it.

Undertoad 03-15-2008 11:01 PM

That sounds insincere!

Anyway, I've downsized my rig and the guys have agreed that they can haul the PA, and so I move back to a car. Fast one too. I love the short-throw shifter. And the Japanese precision. And the value. And the audio package.

How much Jimbo?

lumberjim 03-16-2008 09:21 PM

2 grand behind invoice. catch me on gchat tomorrow if you really want specfics. if you buy a car from me, i'll send tony $50 for the tip jar. that goes for all of you.

ps...we'll fly you in if you wanna take a little trip.....have a little adventure.....meet lumberjim in person. one thing....you have to bring me lunch if you buy from me.

Clodfobble 03-16-2008 09:31 PM

Your company would seriously fly someone in from out of state just to sell one car?

classicman 03-16-2008 09:50 PM

I already offered you lunch and you declined!!! :(

lumberjim 03-16-2008 09:56 PM

yep. there's a girl coming in from upstate NY thursday to buy a used Highlander. airfare costs $300. we we're making apx 2000 on the deal...now we're making 1700.

seriously, though......we are in the last month of Nissan's fiscal year, and they are chasing a retroactive goal. if a $300 plane ticket makes a deal...I think they go for it.
