Goddammit. Weird. Fuck. Thanks Dave, I fucking hate words that don't follow the rules (even when the rules are stupid in the first place).

I before E except after whenever.

elSicomoro 11-20-2003 05:18 PM

I before E
Except after C
Or when sounded as "A"
As in "neighbor" or "weigh"

See! Rote memorization does work!

perth 11-20-2003 05:21 PM

So explain 'weird'. The rule makes sense, but the word doesn't.

lumberjim 11-20-2003 05:24 PM

megmeg is someone we know, i can feel it.....the little list smacks of someone familiar...
sycamore? you like lists
dave?
slang might be too obvious
its not me,
not april...spelling is too good

this line is what nudged me:

Quote:

6. Name calling ensued.
ok, fun time's over give up

other clue:

toad banned ditto's ip, but megmeg started it and was just as bratty......

don't make me get my pipe and sherlock holmes get-up out of storage...just give it up

----side note....I care that Al still has a job, ya shit. bitch all you want, Al, if I get sick of it I'll stop reading the post....

Undertoad 11-20-2003 05:26 PM

Onyx Cougar wrote to the contact address and asked if I would delete all her posts.

Meaning that ditto and megmeg were Onyx alter-egos all along? Or am I misunderstanding you? I wouldn't recommend deleting anything, this kind of stuff needs to be left intact, as a reminder.

Huh? what posts? ALL her posts?

Undertoad 11-20-2003 05:42 PM

Not stated.

hot_pastrami 11-20-2003 05:54 PM

Requests like that trouble me. They're akin to censoring. If you regret ever having contributed... too bad. You did it. Just fail to contribute in the future, and we'll all move on. Deleting the posts would take away from the contributions of othes, too, like in scenarios where said person is a thread-starter.

But the real question is, why does this person want all their posts deleted? To what purpose?

Griff 11-20-2003 06:06 PM

We all get a little paranoid or grumpy sometimes but the thread history is one of the coolest things about this place and if it keeps Syc from getting elected governor, its all good.

Very well, new users are email-verified and moderated.
That is a time sink and it sucks that you have to do that.

I've heard of asking for posts and aliases to be deleted but an entire contribution history? Whoa.

Those new posters ragging on HP remind me of something... I just can't put my finger on it... there was something very familiar in that pattern.

elSicomoro 11-20-2003 07:27 PM

Well Griff, there goes your Chief of Staff position (or whatever I promised you)!

Griff 11-20-2003 07:31 PM

Wow! Just got done reading this thread. Pretty loonie bunch.

Fortunately for you, since I've never said anything stupid here, I'm still electable. he he

elSicomoro 11-20-2003 07:49 PM

Sure you have...anti-government propaganda...I'll burn you (or anyone else on here who's thinking about running for political office) alive. :)

SteveDallas 11-20-2003 07:58 PM

Ah well, there goes my career on the Supreme Court.

HaywardNelson 11-20-2003 10:07 PM

Wow! Poorman's Trixie Beldons!
Sorry, carry on.

Elspode 11-20-2003 10:41 PM

Wolf, is there a shortage of antipsychotics nationwide that I haven't heard about?

If I was guessing, I'd guess that OC wanted her posts deleted because our recent weird visits have begun to make her fear for her privacy, which is a valid fear, given some things she's been through.

No.

xoxoxoBruce 11-20-2003 11:30 PM

Seems to me these snipers that have been rolling through lately, haven't done any real damage. They have fueled some debates, but so what. Rather than making Tony work full time keeping the Cellar clean, can't we ignore them and see if they give up. So they read the posts and discuss them in a secret place. Who gives a hairy rats ass. I mean c'mon now, it's the internet, which is the same as Times Square at high noon as far as privacy goes.

Just because you don't, don't mean we don't. I do.

HP's one of daGuys.

And one of the things we do around here is discuss work-related stuff with the impartial observers of The Cellar™ for the purpose of an unreality check.

I'm tired of hearing about your job, too. So there. In fact, there is a group of us who read these boards and don't post, but discuss everything in detail and we all think that.
Arguing with the voices in your head/alter personalities isn't technically a "discussion."

It's weird.

Seemed obvious to me.

(is there a visual equivalent to onomatopoeia?)

The supply is still good ... but there has been some kind of ripple in the space-time continuum that has all the nuts on edge.

I'm not sure what precisely has happened ... but we had two days in a row of pretty much not seeing anybody, followed by a deluge today ... (saw 13 patients on my shift alone. it's not a record, but it tied it.)

wolf 11-21-2003 02:08 AM

El, is Mercury Retrograde again or something? I've been too cheap to get the Witch's Calendar or the ephemera this year.

WTF is going on here lately???? It's one thing for total strangers to wander in and melt down, but people we know?

TomFoolery 11-21-2003 02:02 PM

Did somebody archive this?
