I had to resurrect my snow thread.

Thats the spirit!

We took the girls sledding today at an old hippy homestead. The guy and his wife built a house (actually two) and raised a buncha well-adjusted kids without electric, running water, or indoor toilets. Every winter he builds a fantastic tobogon run with banked curves for high speed fun. The kids had a blast on the saucers and plastic tobogons, it turns out my kids are totally without fear. Cool. peace Griff

Skied yesterday, biked today, no it wasn't warm enough to cycle here. I took my mtn bike out on the dirt/mud roads. My front derailler froze in place and my rear d froze me out of all but the three lowest on the cluster. I was chased by a dog I know on this really long patch of ice, maybe 40 feet. I would like to thank gyroscopic effect for not kicking my butt. I scared the crap out of a little dog I don't know, using my patented anti-bite technique. What you do is angle your bike directly at the dog until veering off at the last second. This dog gave me a nervous little yipe and ran his butt back down his driveway.

Last Tuesday it was an unexpected 70 deg. F here (Baltimore), with requisite sunbathing by many grateful, nearly naked undergrads. The next day, although sunny, was a bit brisk. For about 10 minutes in the early afternoon, it suddenly began to snow; those huge, wet flakes that don't stick. Outside, the world felt like a giant snow-globe, with the flakes swirling and blowing about. For a few minutes, it was breathtakingly beautiful! What a great planet we live on.
