12 weeks today! Yaaaay!!!

Clodfobble 09-16-2008 05:46 PM

Just remember, it's all uphill from here. ;)

Aliantha 09-16-2008 09:32 PM

yes well, I'm just happy to tell myself I'm a third of the way there. I'm so over being pregnant already.

I think I'm too farking old for this shit!

No way - you've got at least one more to go after this ;)

Aliantha 09-17-2008 05:21 PM

not on your nelly mate!

Aliantha 09-21-2008 09:34 PM

Today I had a nucal translucency screening which is a scan to detect the possibility of any chromosonal disorders. The scan along with particular blood tests help to give you an idea of your risk factor of having a child with downs syndrome as an example.

You are considered to be high risk if you have a less than 1:300 chance. My risk is considered to be extremely low at 1:4019. We were very relieved.

Everything else is normal and the baby is looking very healthy.

All in all, a very positive result.

classicman 09-21-2008 09:54 PM

Outstanding!

Aliantha 09-21-2008 11:51 PM

That's what we thought Dave. :)

Sundae 09-23-2008 04:21 AM

Many congrats. Here's to a healthy Alidazz (see what I did there) who doesn't cause his Mama too much more grief...

BigV 09-23-2008 01:18 PM

wtg baby!

Oh, good for you Aliantha and Dazza too!

Aliantha 09-23-2008 04:21 PM

Thanks SG. I've actually been feeling much better over the last week, although I did have a massive headache yesterday which sucked, but the vomiting seems to have stopped completely other than still gagging my way through tooth brushing.

V, the baby says thankyou, and so do we. :)

kerosene 09-29-2008 02:47 PM

Hey, Ali. How you feeling? Are you still having the massive headaches? I had some seriously bad headaches in my 3rd tri. They rushed me in to the doctor's office because of it. It seems like they were worried that it was a sign that my blood pressure was high. I turned out okay. Have you asked your doctor about it?

TheMercenary 09-29-2008 03:55 PM

Good reports, stay healthy.

Aliantha 10-02-2008 06:22 PM

Nothing much to report on re headaches Case. Everything seems to be going pretty well. I'm 14 weeks now, and life is proceeding at a fairly mundane pace. I have a wicked cold at the moment though which is a bitch because I can't really take anything besides honey and lemon drinks. I think I'm on the mend as of this morning though. My body is expelling a lot of yucky yellowy greenish gunk at a great rate of knots.

Aliantha 10-02-2008 06:23 PM

Oh...so much for staying healthy huh Merc? lol

Ugggg.. I hate colds, but I don't get them very often. I can't imagine being preggers and having a cold. Yuk. Get well soon.

Aliantha 10-03-2008 10:47 PM

I'm on the mend now. I don't get sick too often so I'm still surprised I caught this one. I should be mostly human again tomorrow I think. :)

OK, here's the first pic of our baby. It's a bit blurry, but you can't really see that much anyway.

Undertoad 10-09-2008 12:18 AM

precious snowflake!

wait... is that a hitler salute?

Aliantha 10-09-2008 12:42 AM

haha...hope not. It was poking me the whole time though. I think it wants to come out.

I'll be just as happy when it does.

ZenGum 10-09-2008 08:49 AM

I CAN HAZ CHEEZEBOTTLE?

Aliantha 10-09-2008 05:50 PM

No cheese till 6 months!

Clodfobble 10-09-2008 06:09 PM

Don't you guys have any pasteurized cheese over there?

Aliantha 10-09-2008 06:10 PM

Yeah...but generally they say not to give them solids in any form till six months. Cheese is classed as a solid.

That being said, my previous comment was a bit tongue in cheek really. I think some kids need solids earlier. I started both my boys on a little bit of farex (rice cereal) at night before bed at about 2 months to give them a fuller belly in order to help them start sleeping through the night.

I recommend it to anyone who values sleep, but I know most mothers like to stick to the rules these days.

Didn't harm my boys though.

Clodfobble 10-09-2008 09:41 PM

Oh, I was confused--I thought you were talking about you being six months into the pregnancy. Doctors here recommend that pregnant women do not eat unpasteurized cheeses (like bleu cheese, goat cheese, etc.) during pregnancy, especially early on.

monster 10-09-2008 11:16 PM

Is this when we get to post recipes?

LabRat 10-10-2008 10:59 AM

We need a "you are going to hell for that" smiley :D

Pleased to meet you, mini-ali!

You're also not supposed to eat cured meats and pate or anything offalish. I try and avoid these items, but I haven't completely done so.

One thing I have managed to avoid is cleaning out the cats litter tray though. :)

monster 10-12-2008 09:00 PM

is OK, labrat, I am The One  It is all about me :D

as you were... up-the-duffness.... i have found eating recommendations vary greatly from county to country. in UK: "NO PEANUTS", here: "eat peanut butter before drinking the sugary yuck for the diabetes test if you thing it's likely you'll barf it back"..... well which iis it? come on.... Seems to be more superstition than science

Aliantha 10-15-2008 11:37 PM

16 weeks now. Almost half way. Soooo excitement!

Cloud 10-16-2008 12:13 AM

you're in the "sweet spot"--hope things are going well.

Aliantha 10-16-2008 12:20 AM

Things are going along fairly well. I've been getting headaches again lately, but not too bad. Actually I have one right now which is a bitch and it doesn't seem to matter what I do it wont go away. I think I might go get some accupuncture.

TheMercenary 10-23-2008 03:13 PM

Ali, you may need to do something more important than accupuncture. Like when you have another HA get your BP checked asap. It can be one of the first signs of pre-eclampsia. Do you have any mild vision changes with the HA? This is really important. (See PM)

Aliantha 10-23-2008 05:48 PM

Thanks for your kind thoughts Merc. I responded to your PM and all will be fine I'm sure. :)

Aliantha 11-02-2008 08:17 PM

Tomorrow is our half way scan. I'll be 19 weeks on Wednesday, and apparently that's officially half way (as opposed to 20 weeks which I thought seemed more logical). Anyway, here's to hoping it's a girl. There's too much testosterone in this household already.

SquidGirl 11-03-2008 08:20 AM

Wow - congrats to you! I told everyone that my body would not permit testosterone. I said I would either be pregnant with a girl, or a gay boy. Miette-Paméla ended up as a girl...so much for the cabaret clubs and watching future remakes of Queer as Folk together.

Good luck!!!

Sundae 11-03-2008 08:29 AM

Actually that's a point. There is a theory that it is the mother's rejection of testosterone creates homosexuality. Which has been also suggested for the English tradition of sending the second son (the spare) into the Church.

But it's not proven of course :) And I know Ali & Daz would love another healthy son, gay or otherwise. Still, I'm keeping fingers crossed for a girl, just to complete the set.

Please, please, please - if all is well, can we have pics too? Youngest evar Dwellar offspring?

Here's to confirmation that everything is going well anyway, thinking of you.

Aliantha 11-03-2008 04:45 PM

We'll know in a few hours, and I'll post another pic of the ultrasound like the first one. :)

You're right SG, we'll be happy with whatever comes out, but it would be nice to have a girl.

If the theory that you need to have sex three days prior to ovulation is correct, then it should be a girl, but we'll just wait and see. :)

Sundae 11-03-2008 04:47 PM

Wha... what?
Did I miss the first pic?

Please excuse me if I saw it and have forgotten.

Here it is...just for you mate. ;)

Sundae 11-03-2008 05:11 PM

No idea how I missed it!
Look forward to the next one anyway :)

Aliantha 11-03-2008 05:12 PM

The one from today should have a lot more detail. Hopefully no penis though. lol

Clodfobble 11-03-2008 11:39 PM

Sweet! The older boys are going to have fun teaching him to wrassle!

Aliantha 11-03-2008 11:57 PM

I'm sure you're right, although they'll be a lot bigger than him, so they'd better take it easy. lol

LabRat 11-04-2008 09:10 AM

Ultrasound pics are so awesome. It was so nice to put a 'face' on the person growing inside when I talked to them. Congrats!!

glatt 11-04-2008 09:23 AM

Very nice, Ali!

Or how to pic Mango's. Congrats!

Sundae 11-04-2008 02:20 PM

Congratulations on a healthy baby boy.
I can see his little face!

Is he smoking or playing a piccolo?

Aliantha 11-04-2008 04:55 PM

Thanks everyone. :) We're very pleased.

I'm pretty sure he'll be learning how to pick, peal and eat mango's at a very young age. He'd better not be smoking. I'll beat his backside if I catch him. I've been wondering where the funny music was coming from.

DanaC 11-06-2008 05:06 AM

*smiles* thanks for sharing with us Ali. God it's so exciting. I'm completely thrilled for youse guys:)

kerosene 11-06-2008 11:06 AM

Beautiful, Ali! Congratulations, and thank you again for keeping us informed of his and your progress.

Perhaps we should have a "Name Ali's baby" thread somewhere. Or perhaps we already do, and I missed it!

Cicero 11-06-2008 11:07 AM

Yea. Congrats!!! Ha haa!

No, there's no name my baby thread, but please feel free to start one. lol

This thread has become a sort of a diary for me...just one you can all read. ;) Thanks for your kind thoughts to those of you who have offered, and to those of you who I know have been reading but just not posting. :)

Sundae 11-06-2008 04:08 PM

I think you should name him after a place in another country. The Beckhams named their son Brooklyn. Bill Clinton's daughter is Chelsea. Britney's son is Sean Preston.

Suggestions - Peckham (Peckham Rye if you want to be posh), Dulwich, Southwar, Leicester. All with the added bonus that your son will have to spell/ pronounce them for people for the rest of his life. It adds character.

Or Sue.

Aliantha 11-06-2008 04:10 PM

As I have to get this childs name tattoo'd on my shoulder blade, I'd appreciate suggestions with as few letters as possible. ;)

Sundae 11-06-2008 04:13 PM

Bob

Aliantha 11-06-2008 04:18 PM

lol...no thanks. People will think I'm an Irwin fan.

Cicero 11-06-2008 04:30 PM

Morgan. Because it doesn't rhyme with a four letter word.

Big Sarge 11-07-2008 11:39 AM

Is it just me or does any of ya'll get flashbacks of "Alien" when they see a sonogram?

J/K of course. Are you going to have a 3D sonogram made? You can even see facial expressions on them. Unreal what they can do
