Bruce has been slapped around in individual posts, but the huge difference is that you look at his more aggressive posts in the context of the thousands of laid-back posts and cut some slack.

I don't know Rob. I tend ignore most of his threads not because I don't like him, but really just because there are so damn many of them and they generally have a pretty bitter undertone. That is not something I appreciate. So my choice is to just not go there. That isn't a judgement on him, it is a choice of what to do with my time.

Oh, and LJ's a dick and we should all start threads telling everyone what a creep he is.

Most of my threads are from the news, if there is a bitter "undertone" it is not of my doing.
However, I agree, don't like me ignore my posts... it is what a mature person would do.

Really? You wouldn't say this cute little commentary on your own news article isn't bitter? Not even a little bit?

I didn't think that sounded bitter. I have read some stuff rk posted that did...but I don't think that did. It just sounded funny to me.

Yes, please explain how that is bitter.

Clodfobble 08-24-2007 06:13 PM

Main Entry: 1bit·ter
Pronunciation: \ˈbi-tər\
Function: adjective

2: marked by intensity or severity:
a: accompanied by severe pain or suffering
b: being relentlessly determined
c: exhibiting intense animosity
d (1): harshly reproachful (2): marked by cynicism and rancor

rkzenrage 08-24-2007 06:15 PM

None of which are present, thanks for the vindication.

yesman065 08-24-2007 06:38 PM

rk has been adament, strongwilled and over-the-top at times - but thats not really one of the best examples.

fargon 08-24-2007 08:48 PM

i can sympathize with RKZ, Pain is my constant companion.

We may not always agree. If we ever did, I would have to find someplace else to play. Personal attacks are uncalled for, and the last refuge of the uneducated. Can't we all just get along, just a little?:grouphug:

For the same reason people who obviously don't like what rkz has to say but keep responding to him.

Also, as i mentioned, I think these threads are a deliberate attempt to be hurtful and I don't think it's necessary for grown ups to behave like this. As everyone here knows, there have been times when I've had problems with other people here, but I've never started a thread about their shitty comments and expected people to agree with me about it. I have commented before in Jims thread asking if he's a bully because he posed the question himself, so to me that's a different situation. Also, I stated my point of view and that was pretty much it.

Ultimately, I know people are going to continue to behave the way they do because it's just the way people are. I guess they're not responsible for the things they might say to deliberately hurt others. Yeah, maybe rkz doesn't care about this thread or the things people say, but maybe it does hurt other people. Maybe it disappoints people to know that there is so much malice even in a community like this.

Clodfobble 08-24-2007 09:29 PM

Right, whatever. Rk is just a non-confrontational kind of guy, with no animosity towards religion whatsoever (he only means "fucking scumbags" in the politest possible way!), and his perpetual baby-talk dialect doesn't imply anything cynical about the intellect of believers, and though he finds a way to cram religion into the majority of his posts--even a completely innocuous news story about a scientific discovery, which makes no mention of religion, nor did any board member try to counter the article with creationist claims (hell, ever since OnyxCougar left I'm pretty sure there isn't a single creationist on the cellar at all)--he is not being in any way relentless.

And you know, case in point, it was a really interesting article, and would have almost certainly gotten more than four responses if he hadn't opened the discussion with his typical off-topic mockery and derision.

But you're right, Dana, clearly it was funny. The only way it could have been funnier is if he'd written "debbil" instead of "satan." Zing! No one would have seen that one coming!

Whatever. I'm done trying to help him understand why so many people think he's an asshole. Obviously it's a lost cause.

Aliantha 08-24-2007 09:29 PM

Brianna, yes I was thinking of you, and one or two others when I posted that comment. Probably because I was one of your main targets and to my mind had done nothing to deserve the crap you flung at me. I appreciate that you're working through your issues now and certainly hope you get them sorted out for your own benefit. I wont mention it again.

Understand, or care?
Some people take everything personally... I won't pander to that. If someone gives me a logical, specific, reason, that shows why and how I have offended them I will consider it.
If it is just a "feeling"... nope.

Edit:
Just disagreeing is never logical, no matter what the subject.

Obviously, your husband is obsessed with me. She says she'll ignore me, but.....

Tell her to stop, k? It makes me uncomfortable.

lumberjim 09-29-2007 08:44 AM

DUDE.

Spexxvet 09-29-2007 08:53 AM

The only reason she acts like she's choosing to ignore me is because she can't defend herself against what I've said. She knows I'm right, and she knows she'll look foolish if she tries. And looks are what's most important to a shallow person, right?

lumberjim 09-29-2007 09:10 AM

you're so fucked up. just stop. you're making yourself look spiteful and bitter. I'm going to threaten you soon. this is a warning.

lumberjim 09-29-2007 05:11 PM

on second thought....i want to apologize to jinx. I shouldn't have butted in. she can totally handle herself, and obviously had the right idea by ignoring the provocation. She's tons smarter than me. I will probably get my ass handed to me tonight when i get home.....sorry, smoochie.

i have asshole buttons all over me.

Aliantha 09-30-2007 12:54 AM
