The fact that statements in one book contradict the statements in another is because they are different stories of different people, places, circumstances and times. Saying, "Christians state the bible is the "truth", shows you don't understand Christians or the Bible. |

In both of those verses Jesus was speaking to the apostles, warning them if they were not completely committed they were wasting their time, and his. Emphasizing the job they were setting out to do would be opposed by a whole host of opponents.
He was warning them it wasn't going to be a walk in the park, but like a war, against everything from kings with armies to whining relatives, trying to dissuade and detour them at every turn. He was telling them if they weren't prepared to give up everything and everyone, don't even start. That's why there were only 12 apostles out of the multitudes he spoke to. Notice he wasn't saying go out and tell everyone this message, these weren't boot camp speeches, this was green Beret training. The reason they were recorded is for street creds... these were the apostles credentials to preach to the masses after Jesus was gone. |
