I don't know that one, but here's another to revive the thread:
/// overwhelmed and possessed by your beauty hypnotized to follow you blind your dark side was revealed to me before the possibility of betrayal i did ignore /// Admittedly, that's not an easy one. At all. :) |
hypnotized by the pilfers. am i right or am i right? woot.
what is it about that song that makes it so fucking good? i don't think i'd listen to music like that otherwise. |
I think part of it is the "CLEAR CLEAR! you betta broke outta here" and how he says "outta". :)
I think the other part is that the Pilfers were simply a very good band. It's unfortunate that they didn't get major-label backing, because I find their music to be of a much higher caliber (and much more listenable) than the main-stream ska, but it's also pop-y. All in all, I like it. The rest of that album is very good too. I should send you the MP3's. And yes, you're right, as I guessed you probably would be. I don't figure anyone else around here has ever heard of the Pilfers :) Hypnotized really is just an awesome song though. |
The "The dance floor's a desert..." one I posted was Massive Attack "Daydreaming".
I guess I win? BTW, did anyone pick up the Massive Attack "Eleven Promos" DVD that just came out? Its fucking awesome. |
I just feel like throwing one out...
"Dear God, how have you been, then? I'm not fine, fuck pretending." |
in memory of the departed...
/// i'd like to fly..... but my wings have been so denied /// |
"Down in a Hole" by AIC of course.
Incidentally, my lyric is an AIC song too. |
Yes, and I didn't answer it because I figured you would know that it would be pretty easy for me, kinda wanting me to leave it for someone else... kinda like I figured for the "Down In A Hole" lyric. You turd. :)
I'll still leave it for someone else though. |

Seriously though, I didn't know if anyone would guess mine. It's not what I would call easily decipherable. Yours wasn't either for that matter. The way he sings it makes it sound open to interpretation if you don't actually know the lines. |
Well, while we're on the subject of not-easily-decipherable lyrics, let's go with..
/// cool and stressing /// pronounced "cool ranch dressing" :) this oughta be a sorta tough one. I'd only expect you and Jenni to get it, really. :) |
G n' R--"Pretty Tied Up"
Hmmm...you might get this one: "I'm in love with this malicious intent You've been taken but you don't know it yet What you will know must never live to be found 'Cause it's the subject of the eyes of the clown" |
hehe. of course i'll get that. favorite ministry album.
new world order. ministry. track 1 psalm 69. well, technically, it's called "n.w.o." but we all know what that means. TELL ME SOMETHING I DON'T KNOW SHOW ME SOMETHING I CAN'T USE PUSH THE BUTTON CONNECT THE GODDAMN DOTS! :) "the way to succeed and the way to suck eggs" hehe. i love that cd. |
Ah..."TV II."
I like the first TV Song, although I've only seen it on a live bootleg. It's not even in my import singles box set. "TV III" is alright, but not as good as the first two. How funny...Psalm 69 made me open my Bible for the first time in years. :) |
Well, since no one else is doing it... God Am.
/// sowin' all your wild oats in another's luxuries yesterday was tuesday maybe thursday you can sleep but school starts much too early and this hotel wasn't free so party 'till your connection calls honey i'll return the key /// |
Guns 'n Roses - "My Michelle"
// Now that you got it right Bring love and I'll make it alright Bring love and we'll take it tonite Now that you got it right // ~mike |
Tricky "Evolution Revolution Love".
Oddly appropriate, but still an incredible song: // At the record company party On their hands - a dead star The sycophantic slags all say : "I knew him first, and I knew him well" Re-issue! Re-package! Re-package! Re-evaluate the songs Double-pack with a photograph Extra Track (and a tacky badge) But you could've said no If you'd wanted to You could've said no If you'd wanted to // |
The Smiths--"Paint a Vulgar Picture"
"I could travel to New York City Dress in black and slump around the Village Pierce my flesh with jewels and needles Turn my black hair white or whatever" |
Iodine Radio - "For You"
// Back stabbing and name calling The trade marks of your act You talk and talk of unity But divide with your attacks // ~mike |

You've actually heard of them? They released two major label albums, but didn't really have much of a following outside St. Louis. |
Sproadic dyslexia...it's a bitch.
My brother has a friend who lives in St. Louis, and he gets the odd report of what's big by the Ol' Miss. ~mike |
///
It's tricky to rock a rhyme to rock a rhyme that's right on time it's TRICKY! /// :) OLD SCHOOL |
~mik
Good ol' Run-DMC...
// I am taking no prisoners, taking no shorts Breakin' with the metal of a couple of forts // ~mike |
Public Enemy, of course. Yo! Bum rush the show!
Chuck D is my hero. Here's another good one. /// fuckin' with me 'cause i'm a teenager with a little bit of gold an' a pager /// |
N.W.A--"Fuck tha Police"
"Now let me tell you something You fucking piece of shit You'll never have no money Now tell me was it worth it?" |
I know Mike's lyrics, but won't post b/c I looked them up. I've heard of the band and their label before...good stuff.
|
311 - "Silver". Wow...I haven't listened to 311 in quite some time...
// When she's saying that I'm like a disease Then I wonder how much more I can spend // ~mike |
Offspring - Self Esteem
/// dance! bum rush tha speaker that booms! i'm killin' your brain like a poisonous mushroom deadly! when i play a dope melody anything less than the best is a felony /// :P |
IceIceBaby...
dun dun dun dadadundun
dun dun dun dadadundun Here's a new one. "Never trust a big butt and a smile.." |
Unless I'm mistaken, that's "Poison" by Bell Biv Devoe..
Gotta roll, class time now. ~mike |
since jen and i both have it in our signatures and i'm listening to it now, i'll do some lyrics from this fantastical song.
/// the ruiner's a collector, he's an infector, serving his shit to his flies maybe there will come a day when those that you keep blind will suddenly realize maybe it's a part of me, you took it to a place i hoped it would never go and maybe that fucked me up much more than you'll ever know /// |
i LOVE that song. LOVE. with a capital love.
|
NIN - "Ruiner"
Ok, double shot since I couldn't post yesterday. // Well, I got a little woman 'bout my height and size, Now she's a married woman sees me once in a while. // And lyric dos // Come on you boy child you winner and loser come on you miner for truth and delusion // ~mike |
"... and shine!" #2 is "Shine on you Crazy Diamond", one of the later parts, from Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Thanks for posting an oldie and letting us oldy people in.
|
Ahh, Pink Floyd, bridging all gaps. But if you're old-timey Tony, then you should also get the first one.
(Ooh...a hint...) ~mike |
here's another grown-up tune. take it away, The Tone!
/// now the sun's gone to hell and the moon's riding high let me bid you farewell every man has to die but it's written in the starlight and every line in your palm we're fools to make war on our... /// |
"...Brothers In Arms." Dire Straits. In fact I saw them on that tour, back in the day in 1985. Outstanding...
|
Lucky lucky man. Here's another one for you:
/// i rolled on the sky grew dark i put the petal down to make some time there's something good waitin' down this road i'm pickin' up whatever is mine /// Lucky me that I have seen that one performed live and it ruled. Easily one of the most timeless artists ever. |
FINE!
It's Tom Petty - Runnin' Down A Dream Here's another one: /// well some say life will beat you down break your heart steal your crown so i've started out for god knows where i guess i'll know when i get there /// My favorite Tom Petty song. So you can probably figure this one out. By reading my weblog. And then posting the answer. :) |
Quote:
/// You can make a big impression or Go through life unseen You might wind up restricted and over seventeen It's so hard to be careful, so easy to be lead Somewhere beyond the pavement You'll find the living dead /// my favourite tom petty song. :) ~james |
I won't ruin it for anyone else, but that's a good one. It's not on Playback, unfortunately, but that's okay - I've got it anyway :)
|
Here's a good one. You'll either need to be a dork or my sister to get it. But that's alright.
/// we sleep near the sound of the slow running river and wake up most mornings to a drizzlin' rain and we live every day like the first or the last one with nothing to lose and heaven to gain here's to alaska here's to the people here's to the wild and here's to the free here's to my life in a chosen country here's to alaska and me oh, for a fire on a cold winter's night once more to gaze at the great northern lights for all of the beauty my children will see here's to alaska and me /// and for a double shot /// if i was to change this life i lead you could call me johnny tomato seed 'cause i know what this country needs is a home grown tomato'n every yard you see when i die don't bury me in a box in a cold dark cemetary out in the garden would-a be much better 'cause i could be-a pushin' up-a home grown tomatoes /// :) If there are any errors, I recalled these from memory so... my bad. :) |
Okay, well... I'll let Jen get those. Here's another
/// let's crucify the ego before it's far too late and leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical and you will come to find that we are all one mind and capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable /// |
Ima Dork/ honorary sista reporting for duty sir! John Denver wants to live in Alaska and hey, dont you too?! Nice sky.
I know I've heard the tomato tune, but here's another dork's challenge: " Yeah the cops have been lookin for the son of a gun That's been rippin the tar off the 401. They know the name of the truck shines up in the sun......Green Gables." |
Right you are.
I know yours, but I had to Google it. I don't think anyone's going to get it, so... maybe it's just me that's never heard it before. |
Its Canadiana! Nic oughtta know.
|
oh, sorry. john denver, home grown tomatoes. um...i didn't see this thread's new posts before. weird.
|
and tool. reflection. okay, i don't know any good ones except those that would probably have to be googled...um...because they're all semi-obscure bands that paul listens to :)
|
Here's a hint: I caught these guys out at X-Fest at the Star Lake Amphitheater in Pittsburgh.
// Mussolini comin' through with no remorse From the dark you won't see me Rise up from the sea like a godzilla Straight up through your mind with my armour plated drilla. // ~mike |
Quarashi--"Stick 'Em Up"
Iceland's first ever hip-hop group...heh. Lyrics will be forthcoming. |
"We both thought it was cool to cross the line
And I was convinced it would be alright Now things are strange, nothing's the same And really I just want my friend back" One of Philadelphia's own |
Musiq Soulchild - Half Crazy
// A million dollars in it Cold hundreds of G's Enough to buy a boat And matching car with ease // |
Run-DMC--"Christmas in Hollis"
And actually, Musiq has dropped the "Soulchild"...and you know the guy doesn't use capital letters...or proper spelling fuhdatmatta. ;) "Spreading vocal leprosy, using discrepancy Lyric weaponry lessens your chances of testing me Stop and freeze MC's, I block atrocities True philosophies from the lips of black Socrates" |
I dunno who that is, but that sounds on fire just reading it.
|
Sounds a whole lot like Ozomatli's "Cut Chemist Suite".
Tony Hawk got me turned on to that song. Yeah! |
d got it...ozo. :)
Chali 2na (who did the rhymes on the first Ozo CD) is part of Jurassic 5, who quite frankly whoop serious ass. Check out their CD Quality Control. Also, the self-titled Ozo CD is quite phat too, if you dig Latin with some funk thrown in. Of course, the new Ozo CD is good...the new rapper (Kanetic) is cool...Common also makes an appearance. But it's not quite the same w/o Chali. "i'll 'lectrify ya like some nocturnal sunshine..." |
Fast post before losing the schools LAN
/*
And every time you get this close It makes me want to scream */ ~mike |
Dave hasn't posted new lyrics yet, so I'll throw out another set.
The song is so sick and demented that it's actually funny. "And I put it into my car and I said, 'Momma, we're goin' on a vacation, a permanent vacation, bitch.'" |
Here's some new lyrics for you fools:
/// And now I hear you found somebody new And that I never meant that much to you To hear that tears me up inside and to See you cuts me like a knife /// :P [ Edit - somehow "you found" founds its way out of my post. ] |
Poison--"Every Rose Has Its Thorn"
The lyrics I posted yesterday will stand. |
Nobody guessed the last set I posted, which was "Momma's Gotta Die Tonight" by Body Count.
And now...new ones: "I'm everlasting, never will my head expand this publisher is clearing house like I was Ed McMahon I'll getcha open like a bullet wound come test the repertoire and I'll connect a right cross to your upper jaw" |
