Was it that obvious? Apparently it was. I guess I'll give the answer now instead of in the morning.

FloridaDragon 04-05-2006 06:24 PM

Eggs is close enough ! ... egg case washed up on the beach which I photographed while over in Sanibel this last weekend. Looked on the web and see conflicting comments on what critter it is from however ... some say conch and some say whelk.

xoxoxoBruce 04-05-2006 09:42 PM

I thought those were horseshoe crab eggs. :mg:

Nope, definitely not Horseshoe crab.
Whelk and Crown Conch are similar, but......

Cyclefrance 04-06-2006 12:44 AM

In reality it looks more like the ducting in my central heating boiler (with which I have become unhappily familiar these last two days - at least the bloody thing is working again now!)

capnhowdy 04-06-2006 03:34 PM

some type of fabric?

glatt 04-06-2006 03:41 PM

yes

glatt 04-06-2006 03:49 PM

Fiberglass fabric, to be more exact.

It's a single layer of fiberglass covering a kayak hull before additional coats of epoxy are put on to smooth the lumps out.

Kitsune 04-06-2006 06:57 PM

Yep. Made it from plans I got for my birthday a few years ago.

Here's a picture of the finished product, with my daughter thrown in for scale. It's a fun little boat, but I don't paddle it anywhere near as much as I had hoped to. Once or twice a summer.

That's a damn slick kayak! I really admire people that make their own.

Paddle it? you mean get it wet? :mg: I'd hang that sucker from the living room ceiling and genuflect every time I walked by.

OK, not really..... but it sure is a work of art.

Very nice. I only wish I knew the technical term for those things... (larger picture posted, soon)

glatt 04-10-2006 08:21 AM

I don't know what they are called either, but they should call them crab tailings like in mining.

OK. So what is this? It may be pretty easy. My wife guessed it in about 5 seconds.

Happy Monkey 04-17-2006 09:30 AM

A scrubbing bubble?

I mean, windshield washer nozzle?

glatt 04-17-2006 11:04 AM

Yep. Washer fluid nozzle.

Fucking tree pollen is horrible this time of year. It's almost like green snow.

Happy Monkey 04-17-2006 11:22 AM

You mean oobleck?

Kagen4o4 04-17-2006 06:20 PM

i was gonna say a robotic nose. does the same thing though

moondoggy 04-17-2006 07:22 PM

Its a little robotic toad, created in 1971 by a much younger and bored Bill Gates (and predictably, it contains system errors which render it practically useless for everyday use) It has just popped up out of a lilypond which someone has doused with amphetamine cut with Staminade (hey, I didnt know it came in green!) which accounts for the look in its eyes...do I win, huh, huh?

xoxoxoBruce 04-17-2006 07:32 PM

Welcome to the Cellar, moondoggy. :D
You've been drinking from that same pond, haven't you?

twod-yee?
