That's one reason I'm getting him, Tonchi! I expect him to broaden my circle of aquaintances considerably! And I actually ran into a friend that I'd lost touch with and hadn't seen for a couple years last night. She was out and about with her SO and the SO's buddy who is currently unattached, so things are beginning to look up, already! ;)

Is there anyone left in your group of friends that knows someone? I was one of those socially retarded computer people previous mentioned and was resigned to being single for the rest of my life. I figured being 34 and never having a significant relationship pretty much marked me as a pariah for the rest of my life. Then my sister asked me to come to a happy hour to meet someone. I usually flat out refused to do things like that, it always made me so uncomfortable. However, this time I said yes. I ended up meeting a great woman, 2 months later started living with her, 5 months later got engaged, 1 year later we were married. We're about to have our 1 year and it's the best thing I ever did. I'm super happy.

So, I know I may have just been lucky, but it seems that informal matchmaking from friends/family can work. They'll weed out the super crazies and certainly aren't out to put you in a bad spot.

Just my .02
