AFAIC, he was doing very well up until the last few lines of the third paragraph.

jinx 09-23-2005 11:03 AM

Hmm, I don't really get why smartaz is being labeled a troll or an idiot here. Why is his/her post any more misogynist than the recent posts by enlightened western men suggesting that women should have c-sections or surgery so they remain desirable or "good in bed"?

dar512 09-23-2005 11:08 AM

Strong stance + leaning far in one direction + newbee = troll.

Generally.

Time will tell.

wolf 09-23-2005 11:28 AM

If he's a troll, he's a well-read one.

I don't think he's a troll, though.

xoxoxoBruce 09-23-2005 08:11 PM

I'm with Wolf. Not attacking anyone or their opinion. Just posting his (?) view and giving the reasons why he holds them....a hundred years after they went out of style.
Of course a lot of things I believe in have gone out of style, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.....just out of style. :p

edit- Now here's a troll.

ashke 09-23-2005 08:37 PM

With a name like "SmartAz"... :headshake

I made the post because it is true!!! It is not a suggestion, it happens all the time in Brazil - mostly because the women want to "stay good" in bed.

I do not remember anyone saying that women should have C-sections for this reason...

How do you know I am a "enlightened western man?"

SmartAZ 09-24-2005 07:13 AM

So I'm a moron because you don't happen to agree with me?

So you think it's important to be "up to date" even if the country is falling apart because the current fads don't work right?

I'm disappointed. I thought this crowd could do better than that. How did you folks learn to spell so well without learning how to defend your positions?

Griff 09-24-2005 07:34 AM

Smartaz you're obviously not a moron, if you wish to continue the arguement ignore the barb and follow up. Sometimes when you're new folks prefer to just smack. UT's points deserve to be addressed and I'll have to do it if you don't but I've got goat housing to improve.

SmartAZ 09-24-2005 07:48 AM

Yeah, well, I've gotta wash my socks. I'm not sure yet how long I'll hang around here. I was hoping for better discussions. I mean without the insults.

wolf 09-24-2005 10:54 AM

Try using fewer yourself. That generally helps.

I never learned how to spell. Ask Wolf if you don't believe me. I can get pretty argumentative, however. If its worth arguing about. :eyebrow:

I say, Professor SmartAz!

Why can't a woman be more like a man?
Men are so honest, so thoroughly square;
Eternally noble, historically fair.
Who, when you win will always give your back a pat.
Why can't a woman be like that?

Why does every one do what the others do?
Can't a woman learn to use her head?
Why do they do everything their mothers do?
Why don't they grow up, well, like their father instead?

Why can't a woman take after a man?
Men are so pleasant, so easy to please.
Whenever you're with them, you're always at ease.

Would you be slighted if I didn't speak for hours?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Of course not!

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Would you be livid if I had a drink or two?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Nonsense!

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Would you be wounded if I never sent you flowers?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Never!

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Well, why can't a woman be like you?

One man in a million may shout a bit.
Now and then, there's one with slight defects.
One perhaps whose truthfulness you doubt a bit.
But by and large we are a marvelous sex!

Why can't a woman take after a man?
'Cause men are so friendly, good natured and kind.
A better companion you never will find.

If I were hours late for dinner would you bellow?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Of course not.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
If I forgot your silly birthday would you fuss?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Nonsense.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Would you complain if I took out another fellow?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Never.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Why can't a woman be like us?

Why can't a woman be more like a man?
Men are so decent, such regular chaps;
Ready to help you through any mishaps;
Ready to buck you up whenever you're glum.
Why can't a woman be a chum?

Why is thinking something women never do?
And why is logic never even tried?
Straightening up their hair is all they ever do.
Why don't they straighten up the mess that's inside?

Why can't a woman behave like a man?
If I was a woman who'd been to a ball,
Been hailed as a Princess by one and by all;
Would I start weeping like a bathtub overflowing,
Or carry on as if my home were in a tree?
Would I run off and never tell me where I'm going?
Why can't a woman be like me?

I agree that UT had a lot of points. It will take a couple of years to address all the implications and misconcep... uh, I mean, things we see differently.

I'll work on it. Watch this space.

I didn't use the [sarcasm] tags, and you took me seriously? :headshake
