ok, i'm going to quit posting pics now until someone explains to me how i can post a better sized image. it keeps telling me that my file is too large, and the only way i can figure out to get it to fit is by using "resize", but that makes image pointless to post.

zippyt 09-03-2005 11:01 PM

http://www.flickr.com/

Set an account , upload the pics , then post the link to that pic
Easy

Hey if I can figuer out how to do so can you !!!

Happy Monkey 09-03-2005 11:03 PM

I use flickr now. But previously I'd use the Gimp to resize to 640x480, then adjust the jpg quality until it was the right size - the Gimp shows an estimated file size that is updated when you move the image quality slider. There are probably simpler programs to do the same thing, though.

Elspode 09-03-2005 11:50 PM

You can actually resize pics in Microsoft Photo Editor.

ok, i've dumped some pics onto flikr and that was easy. i see how to invite people to view, but that is an email deal. how can i invite "the cellar" in without having you logged in as me? yes, i am that dumb.

lookout123 09-04-2005 12:25 AM

wait - i think i've got it. how about...nope, dammit.

Now at the top of the pic you will see some buttons ,
Click on All Sizes ,
under the pic that comes up you will see 2 windows of web code stuff,
copy and paste the second window of web code into your post to show the pic , or copy and paste the first window to show a link to the pic ,

i think i now have it set up so that you can click on my pics in this thread which will take you directly to my stream of photos at flikr. once you are there, all is well.

i don't have a lot of photos up yet, but i'll get around to it, now that i've learned an easier way to do it. thanks.

I am very thankful that I didn't pay for the trip (the firm picked it up for us).
Any vacancies for a capable Brit? Lucky if I can get the price of a sandwich covered over here!

As for pic resizing - I use geocities freebee website a lot. Have a basic photo viewer from which I take a screen grab, edit through cut/paste in MS Paint (save as jpeg file) then upload into Geocities and resize on web page. Maybe a little long-winded but you can see the results in my last trip which includes how I discovered Cellar

actually we do have brokers and home office operations in the UK and they are actively recruiting.

Clodfobble 09-04-2005 09:13 PM

Hey lookout, that second picture with you and your wife?

I can definitely see how she won the wet t-shirt contest.

Er, um, because she's pretty. ;)

Carnival ships join Katrina effort
CARNIVAL Cruise Lines has chartered three of its cruise ships to the US government to serve as a temporary home for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The six-month charter was arranged by the Military Sealift Command on behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency for an undisclosed price, according to a Carnival statement. The vessels Ecstasy and Sensation, each with a capacity of 2,606 passengers, will be docked in Galveston with effect from today and the 1,800-passenger Holiday will be docked at Mobile from Thursday under the initial plan. In apologising to guests who had planned cruises on the ships, company president and chief executive Bob Dickinson said: "Given that Hurricane Katrina is the worst natural disaster in US history, we trust our guests will understand that the decision to enter into these charters was the right one. This inconvenience to our guests will provide desperately needed housing for thousands of individuals affected by this tragedy= 2E" Carnival adds that the itineraries of two other ships, Carnival Conquest and Elation will be modified because of the storm and the three-ship charter.

lookout123 09-05-2005 11:48 PM

I've cruised on the Ecstacy before. nice ship.

wolf 09-05-2005 11:51 PM

My sister was on the Ecstacy as well.

I only remember the name of the boat because she bought me ballcap that says "Ms Ecstacy" which I thought was both hilarious and very appropriate.
