Heh. I named one of my rats "Bob". He's got the best personality of all of 'em, too. For some reason, "Bob" just seems like a good name - generic, sure. But I've noticed that animals tend to grow into their names. Or maybe it's that our mind grows around their names. Regardless, I think "Bob" is a cool, semi-cute name for a pet. It just works.

A very special, secret way to help the housebreaking along with a new male puppy: you simply show him where to go. He wants to go where the pack goes, so make sure he sees and smells you going there. I'd wait until dusk at least, but.. your call.

In the meantime, that "Nature's Miracle" is a must-have. "Simple Solution" is the same idea. It's an enzyme, and it cleans up pee, perfectly.

If that were true, most dogs would use the toilet. ;)

Howcum... I am not getting credit for my posts?

I just noticed that I have 57 posts for some time now and all my posts have the
same number? Am I just not good enough of a poster to notice or what?

a search for all your posts only shows 58. I dunno. Maybe you're mistaken?

BrianR 01-16-2002 04:28 PM

I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong.

The counter that numbers my posts was to blame. When I logged on today, yesterday's post (#57)
was renumbered, as were the last four (also #57) yesterday.

I blame Undertoad for spending too much time on his "life" and not enough time here.

A friend of mine had a red nosed american pitbull terrier, same dog? He was extemely loyal and once tree'd a guy who was running from the cops. He was actually more of a cop magnet than a chick magnet though, since nobody "without anything to hide" would own such a dog. They can be very hard on other dogs cats etc.. so be forwarned.

I took care of a neighbor's bull mastif pup for a week (at her house, never again) - actually a young adult with puppy behavior. A muscle dog. scared the bejesus outta me and all other life forms within a 3 block radius. That thing was so strong and didn't know it. He wanted to play, I wanted body armor. And his jaw, my God, his jaw...I hear bulls can be kind, sweet, but theyre built to tear your face off.

I won't post the picture, but yes they are, and they will. If you plan on having kids or anything that you want to live past 3-4 years, I wouldn't recommend anything other than a nice gentle dog.

Undertoad 01-17-2002 12:37 PM

Fine, I'll post the picture.

Be afraid.

dave 01-17-2002 12:39 PM

While that one is funny, the one I was referring to (you've probably seen it if you make it a point to check out stuff like "vomit lunch" and "steak and cheese") is by far the most gruesome thing I've ever seen. But thanks for the funny dog picture. :) Is that one of yours?

Undertoad 01-17-2002 12:47 PM

Yes, this is Pearl. A mis-marked Boston Terrier.

Pearl may make the IotD soon, as she got hives, and it was weird but enlightening.

dave 01-17-2002 12:53 PM

She chewing on a piece of wood or what?

Man, that pic cracks me up :) Woulda been a great Friday image :)

Undertoad 01-17-2002 01:37 PM

It's actually a fake bone made out of some hard plastic. She has sharpened all of the ends and made a weapon out of it.

Boston terriers are only half bulldog, so they are bold and tenacious but their jaws are not so powerful. But once in a while we feed our two raw chicken wings (dogs can eat raw chicken and can only digest bones if they're raw). And they crush the bones pretty easily.

dave 01-17-2002 02:07 PM

Well, if I am reincarnated as a chicken, I'll keep that in mind :)
