Well as far as I'm concerned they're a necessary evil--you gotta hear the music some way! I read a fair number of reviews of the E2C and came to the conclusion that most of the people who bashed it were comparing it unfavorably to stuff that was $150 or more. Most people (I say most) who were comparing it to other sets that can be had for $75 or less agreed that it was better than say the similarly priced Sony models, so I decided to give them a shot. I don't have fabulous audiophile ears to hear the difference, and they've got to be better than the $10 Koss clip-ons I have now

Link, si'l vous plait?

Well the top sony in-ear ones now are the MDR-EX71SL but they seem way too cheap, I think I'm out of date. Try ipodlounge.com or that site silent posted if you're hunting.

I have a non-ipod mp3player--pocketpc, ipaq hp 6315, with windows media player. Nice job playing tunes from the SD card. Plays movies too.

I had the older version of the Archos jukebox. Unfortuantely, I placed it on the floor of my car on the passenger side and now it boots to a drive error.

I didn't like the interface much. It was difficult to organize music and use playlists.

This was the old version which used rechargable AA batteries. I don't know about the new versions. It was also half the price of an Ipod and didn't use a proprietary music format.

What proprietary format does the iPod use? AAC is an open standard.

What proprietary format does the iPod use? AAC & Apple Lossless are open standards, not to mention full MP3 support since day one.

I got curious about iPods while reading this thread and went ahead and ordered the 60GB Photo. Man, this thing is cool, first MP3 player for me. I immediately ordered the recharging dock, the digital camera link, a slick belt clip carrying case, and the iTrip. You just gotta check out the iTrip if you haven't already! Plug the thing in the top of the iPod, tune any FM radio to 87.9 and it transmits your music through the radio. Very cool in the car, I was always meaning to get a disc player for the car but now I don't need one.

My only gripe with the photo part of the iPod is the screen size, it'd be a bit nicer if it were a little bigger but it's still cool being able to show pictures around without having to carry an armload of paper pictures.

i'd say i have ipod envy, but i cant envision filling my 30g, much less a 60. still....yous IS twice as big as mine, and that bothers me on a basic manly level. ;)

Don't think of it as "twice as big", think of it as "twice as empty." Hey, just trying to help

I have the 1gb iPod Shuffle, and love the hardware but HATE the software. I've been trying to find another application (Windows) to add music files to the player, but haven't had much luck.

I got a Phillips RUSH. Small unit with small capacity. (I may invest in a 512m flash card for it) It is ideal for what I use it for : running - I'm not too sure what life I'd get oout of a harddrive based player. Light battery use.... I've gotten 22 miles out of it since Saturday...on one cell..

I've already got 2026 songs and about a dozen full length albums on the iPod plus about 3500 pictures so far. That all filled just over 11GB but what I got the digital camera link for is I can download full size pictures right from the camera onto the iPod for storage. It will come in handy while on vacation or extended photo shoots so I wont need more than the one 512MB CompactFlash card I have.

Plus I just like to be able to say mine is twice as big as yours (on a basic manly level). :D
