We had a costume contest at work tonight, this was one of the best. The costume had a little fan in it to keep it inflated, not only was she a puffy pink pig she's also very pregnant! :biggrin:

A creative guy like you? I figured you'd at least hand out empty shell casings or beer bottlecaps.

That's why if I were home passing out candy I would have been armed. We have a similar problem. I have what I call the "five foot rule." Once the "kids" top 5', it's time to lock up and call it a night and start eating the leftovers.

My frail, elderly mother was under orders that she was under no circumstances to open the door, even if there were childish sounding knocks.

Great haul of high quality candy. None of those damn Maryjanes in there, and no stupid healthy raisin snacks either! Good for her.

I had two bowls of candy last night. For the kids who came around in a costume consisting of little more than a mask, I gave out the fun size and off-brand candy. For the kids that came around who looked like they at least put some thought into what they wanted to be, I gave out full size candybars and high quality nums. Though most of the ones in jeans, Tshirt and a little plastic mask were the kids who looked like they belonged in highschool. Too cool to dress up, but still wanting free candy. Effort, kids, EFFORT!!

I did the same thing! The ones who obviously put in lots of effort got better loot. There was one kid who had the coolest pirate costume on, and another little girl was the Statue of Liberty, complete with green painted face and torch. It looked like mom had hand-made the entire costume with lots of love. I wanted to give the parents candy, too, in those cases! :thumbsup:

We handed out pretzels and Pop Ices. Fewer little ones this year.

Next year, we're handing out hot cider in cups to the chilly parents too.

I miss the "Good Olde Days". I remember brownies and popcorn balls and caramel apples. This was before the psychos and razor blades and needles amd poison. Most of you remember that. I hope.

I read somwhere recently that there are no recorded cases of razor blades in apples, candy, etc. during Halloween. That it's all just a widely believed myth.

The poison in Tylenol was real, but had nothing to do with Halloween.

I'd be curious if anyone can prove otherwise.
