Congratulations Dana. A great start to a fascinating new career. There is nothing as important as teaching people how to communicate. Many Many years ago when the world was young and when Idi Amin threw the Asian community out of Uganda, I joined a group in London teaching basic language and communication skills to the women. The kids went to school, the men obtained jobs, and the women stayed at home & suffered dreadful isolation. They didn't know how to deal with shopping, medical/dental issues, and you know how our culture just loves its form filling which is difficult enough if you have a good grasp of the language but for these women, even finding out how to post a letter was quite intimidating.

It was richly rewarding for everyone involved and I hope you gain as much satisfaction from it as I did.

Yeh, you answered your own question there. I think I'd be more honest with myself in a private journal and any disclosure which allowed someone to put two and two together would be a breach of ethics, not to mention a fireable offense.

Good luck Dana :)

Now, I'm not taking a stand on the content or purpose of this site, but you might want to look at TardBlog (or what's left of it, anyway, for a close up, occasionally irreverent look at teaching kids with special needs.
