I'm a Lumberjim and I'm OK

sing it with me now

there was a thrid name thread somewhere, i remember file not found asking me why i like lumber. mine was a reuse of my SWG id. damn thing wouldn't take any good ones, and then this grew on me. I'm considering changing my name legally to Lum Berjim. If I ever write that book, that'll be my pen name.

wolf I've seen you use blackhawk and glockwolf on other boards, I assume glockwolf is because wolf was taken but blackhawk?

wolf 07-14-2004 11:42 AM

Things happen in the magickal world ... SilverWolf has been my magickal name for a very, very long time. And, well, stuff happens ... you learn new lessons, have new experiences, learn "new medicines" as it's stated in the Native American Community. When that happens often your name changes. Mine did. And so now I'm actually Black Storm Hawk.

My biggest struggle is now over whether I change my vanity license plate on my car ...

Radar 07-14-2004 11:44 AM

I chose the name Radar when I was hacking in high school and everyone said I looked like Radar from M*A*S*H, and it followed me into my 20's. Strangers used to come up to me on the street and ask if I was Gary Burghoff. I finally cashed in on it by going to a surplus store and buying the exact hat and fatigues he wore in the show and the same wire framed glasses. I think I won about 10 costume contests that Halloween, some for big $$.

I also liked the name because it's a palindrome.

Heh, and the origin of the name I use here is pretty obvious. :D

I've had several other net names:

rhoandterry - obvious again lol.
res87 - my art signature in high school composed of my initials and year of graduation.
ladysyc69 - Shortened version of the orginal with year of birth at the end.
DMode2000 - I think this was for my WebTV account when I first got online ever. Basically, Depeche Mode reference.
dmdevout - Heh.
LadyXavier (or MistressX) - alter ego, wannabe domina alias. ;)

Slothboy 07-14-2004 04:32 PM

Like any good nickname I didn't pick it myself, it was bestowed (bestown?) upon me by my first college roommate. Freshman year I got my first real girlfriend (this was before geeks were cool so it took awhile) and I took to staying up WAY too late. I could often be found during any break between classes and such during the day sleeping with my clothes on, on top of the covers, in our dorm room.

Roomie kicked the bed as hard as possible one afternoon and said, "SLOTHBOY! Get up and let's get something to eat." "Slothboy?" I asked groggily, "Why did you call me that?"

"Because you are sloth-like and sedentary," He said.

It stuck.

Hey post # 2 (but who's counting)

Mine is a variation of my actual name (Jacqueline) given to me by some cute toady guy while I was down in Miami. I like it so - I used it!

breakingnews 07-15-2004 11:55 PM

Um, breaking news is my way of life. While I am not as much of a hardcore news junkie as the Bob Woodwards in this world, breaking (and sometimes making) the news has become my calling. I just enjoy it - a peer sold me on journalism back in college when he said that the business is a "front-row seat in life." It couldn't be more true.

I started wandering this way while I was at work at my old newspaper. Thought it was appropriate.

Handles in the past? wanger114 is my aim name (don't think anyone has called me by my first name since the 3rd grade); ImA10sPlyr; Loki0181; among some others. Great.

On a side note, my favorite new movie quote: "They say 60 percent of the time it works all the time!"

Trilby 07-16-2004 12:05 AM

Mine is my name but I wish it were something a lot more mysterious--pretty pedestrian.

bluesdave 07-16-2004 12:17 AM

It seems like only yesterday that I was saying this  , but I selected my name because I love blues music (mostly traditional and piano, but some electric). These days I'm almost 100% into Jazz, so I don't play my blues cds so often now.

Brianna is very pretty. Your parents were not intellectually crippled by childbirth, obviously. Some of the names I see passing across my desk are enough to give you fits. I mean serious "what were you thinking" kinds of names. (and I'm not just talking about Faux-African type names)

Faux-African, like L'emonjello and his twin brother O'rangjello?
