Already had my first discussion of the nomination with a diehard Bush supporter at work.

He mentioned that McCain is publicly supporting Bush and that Kerry is already on record as saying that Edwards doesn't have the experience to be VP. There was also the obligatory "Carter was a wimp" and "Reagan single-handedly whupped the Russians" sidebar.

I mentioned McCain has already also publicly criticized Bush and that a VP doesn't have to have as much experience as a President. I then asked a question and got the answer that is on my Top 10 Signs It's Time to Stop Debating a Conservative

I asked him "So, do you think Dan Quayle was qualified to be President of the United States when he became Vice President?"

He looked at me, and I could see his desire to maintain party loyalty and discipline warring with his instinct to tell the truth. It took him 5 seconds to say "Yes".

At that point I said the discussion was over.

Top 10 Signs It's Time to Stop Debating a Conservative

1. "Dan Quayle would have been a great President".
2. He pulls out a tinfoil hat and asks you to wait until the black helicopter stops circling.
3. He hands you a sex education pamphlet with a Cabbage Patch Kid on the cover.
4. He tells you that life begins before conception and that masturbation is genocide.

Its strange to me that someone who has become as risk averse as Kerry would choose this VP,.. maybe he was afraid of being sued. He has to know that outside the Democratic faithful people just don't like the lawsuit happy. So it's either the blood-sucking lawyers or the merchantilists, another awful election cycle. I am looking forward to a Cheney/Edwards debate though. In this corner wearing the red trunks representing the debil and all his minions...er which guy was that?

Wait, wait, it was a mistake.

I heard two talk show hosts mention today how liberal this ticket is...I must be in some sort of parallel reality.

They need to do their best to scare any southerners who might be tempted to look favorably upon Edwards. And they've already managed to convince many of them that "liberal" is a bad word.

One of said hosts also noted that liberals are afraid to admit that they're liberal. I'll agree with that to a point.

Well the first clip I heard out of Edwards was right on the money. Something about rebuilding Americas place in the world. NPR is reporting that Edwards has very high approval numbers, that suprises me but then again what do I know... :eyebrow:

Apparently, you didn't get the memo. Liberals shall henceforth refer to themselves as progressive. http://www.cellar.org/images/smilies/unsure.gif
