Perhaps being annoyed at a certain subculture's behavior isn't the same as hating an entire "race"?

Well - I've got double jeopardy going for me. I'm a woman and I'm asian. (Half chinese - enough for people to think of me as a chink) Growing up - my family is southern - and my single mom and I lived with my Grandparents who were both EXTREMELY rascist. My mom however taught me to accept everyone. I have always tried to stand up for injustice and whenever one of my grandparents made a racist remark - I tried to argue with them and would try and prove my point. (Now that I'm older - I have given up on this - it is rather pointless. They aren't mean or violent - just make some pretty racist comments that drive me up the wall backwards)

My Mom got remarried to a very large lovable German man who is my daddy who is just as liberal and open hearted as my Mom. I'm in Portland Oregon - and we are such an interesting hodge podge of people here - a very diverse mix. So - as a lot of other people that mentioned earlier - I hate the assholes. They could be purple for all I care. If you are an ass - I will tell you.

However - lately I have noticed, if I call up to make an appointment with say - a doctor - I always get an Asian doctor. People think because of my last name I can't speak english or something. Not like I mind - I just thought it funny.
