This must be handled before convention.

It doesn't. There is no rule that says it is.

And after the last 3 years or so, I don't want to hear about political norms. There aren't any.

Ah, GOP governor...

Griff 03-31-2020 02:57 PM

I don't see any problem with putting up a strong VP candidate. Nobody is saying force him out. If the Dems get in the situation the Republicans are in right now, then they ask him to step aside for the good of the country.

sexobon 03-31-2020 03:04 PM

More likely that the Dems are counting on the Republicans to impeach him ASAP.

Undertoad 03-31-2020 03:20 PM

Problem is, his issue seems to be getting worse. He can't even read a numbered list without immediately losing his place. Every answer had some sort of fumble, and these weren't hardball questions. Maybe it was a bad night for some reason.

I feel bad for him, and not snarky-bad either. Somebody needs to gently take him aside and say, Joe, for the good of the world, for your own legacy, consider heading off to the retirement home for ex-leaders. The problem is, everybody who would tell him that does not want Bernie, and Bernie is still electoral plan B.

I'm still okay with this. I couldn't care less if he craps himself at the podium.

sexobon 03-31-2020 03:34 PM

Neither could I. It's if he craps himself in the Oval Office or the offices of other world leaders that I'm concerned about. Joke doesn't appear to have what it takes to rebound from that.

BigV 03-31-2020 03:37 PM

You know Joe's last name starts with the letter B and not K, right?

UT, I'm not talking to you--chill out.

sexobon 03-31-2020 03:39 PM

Left.

I still don't care. When I say "anyone but Trump," I mean exactly what I say.

Flint 03-31-2020 04:23 PM

Trump: We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself!

Biden: We have to take care of the cure, that will make the problem worse, no matter what!

...

Imagine these two in a Presidential debate...

Oh, I can appreciate that. I'm an independent. I voted for Bill, against Dubya, and for Obama. In '16 though, I was ABC (Anyone But Clinton) and that's how Trump got my vote. Now, I am NOT an Anyone But Biden type; however, he hasn't convinced me he can be better than the incumbent, just different. Either choice is a big gamble. I may just let my bet ride on the one with the most current institutional knowledge and demonstrated ability to rebound.

There's also the consideration that in '16, Biden chose not to run. He might've been the incumbent now. The world; however, doesn't wait on individual misfortune and he made his choice between self and country knowing that. Considering the way he seems now, it may be too late for him even if he's feeling ready for it. Life isn't fair.

I feel the difference is Biden would have a Dr Fauci type instead of Pence running the show.
Surrounded by competent people even I could run the country.

Not this kid. I am far too hostile towards people to want that job.

However, when popular acclaim sweeps me into office, you can have the Secretary of Random Beatings slot.

xoxoxoBruce 04-01-2020 12:22 AM

Not me, I want to be in the center of the accolades and wealth without any responsibility.
