I don't have a vote, I'd just like to remind everyone of the fun fact that "rock'n'roll" was originally slang for fucking. It would be like if an entire genre of music were called "horizontal mambo."

"Oh man, I saw an awesome horizontal mambo show this weekend."

Both of them are correct, y'know. On all counts.

Amanda and I watched the whole thing. Never heard of her before.. Thanks for this. Amanda had seen the train station clip, but no context. Amazing that I didn't know her name. January 11th is her day. And she's buried in Philly. What?

She's probably Rock and Rolls mother. There's a story that Richard Penniman was outside one of her shows singing back in his gospel days. She brought him in exposing him to her high energy show and eventually we get Little Richard.

It makes me wonder about all the players around the country who never made a disc but for sure made music.

I dunno. Little Richard was born in December 1932 and was only 15 years old on March 31, 1948 when, rumor has it, a baby was born that came out of the birth canal crying Wop bop a loo bop a lop bom bom!

Al Gore.

Alan freed.

I saw a shown last week ago called the Million Dollar Quartet, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis. The set was Sun Studio with Sam Phillips MC-ing and he said he invented Rock and Roll. Since he recorded Rocket 88 at Sun I guess it’s not that outlandish a claim.

We saw that on the cruise we went on. And watched the show, Sun Records on CMT?

Good show. Sam definititely had a hand in it.

I saw it at the Welk Theater in Branson MO, they looked pretty close at a distance but the sound was right on the money.
