That was easily one of the best depictions of the internal experience of schizophrenia that I've seen.
Wolf, how do you know that? This is not one my smartass replies. I just wondered how you/they/anyone knows what these people have going on in there heads. Do they describe it? After they're cured or med controlled?

Actually go to www.thislife.org type in "Edge of Sanity" in search this site. There's a similar, if audio only, piece. The Doc, that put it together does hear voices. So, she does know first hand.

How I know ...

Okay, first let me say I've never been there.

Haven't heard voices, seen things, although I will admit to the occasional conversation with someone who isn't there ... ;)

However, I do spend most of my workday talking to people who are having these experiences. Some of them are very able to describe what it's like ... what the voices are telling them, what the volume level is like, how distracting it is from regular interactions, etc.

It's also very interesting to get to see someone that was totally crazy on admission once they've been on meds for about a week.

It's sometimes like talking to a totally different person (other times the difference isn't that striking because their baseline is pretty close to crazy to begin with).

I remember the first time I ever saw a crazy person. I was maybe seven, we were eating in Wendy's and I got up to go get a refill on a drink. Some guy was sitting there talking to someone that wasn't present. Being a child I stared openly. I didn't get it at first. I remeber the guy glaring at me, as I walked back to the table and not knowing why. Then it hit me, I walked right through the space he was talking into. That had to screw with him a bit. Even then I wondered if the person that wasn't there was run into or said anything to me. I've met more such poeple in my life, but that one stuck with me. He really looked like he wanted to hurt me, but more, I think I disturbed what appeared to be a really deep and important conversation.
