Why the fuck would you go to the NY Times to find out the details behind a local story? That's a city folk move that goes right along with describing the paper involved as some shitty little paper. What an elitist attitude. Criticizing the guy's drawing ability and clunky sentence structure is too. Unfortunate every written news report insists on adding a comma to the 2129, the guy that drew it and the farmers it was directed at understand the meaning. So do the editor, publisher, and Big AG/their minions.
From the transcript of the video...
Quote:
HIS EDITOR SAID A SEED DEALER PULLED HIS ADVERTISEMENTS WITH FARM NEWS AND SOME PEOPLE AT THE PAPER DON'T THINK BIG AG SHOULD BE CRITIZED OR POKED FUN AT.

Seed dealers are agents, the local reps, of the AG suppliers mentioned in the cartoon. If some people at the paper feel big AG shouldn't be poked, why did they publish it? Because they didn't feel that way until they were leaned on. After 21 years and 1100 editorial cartoons, why didn't they say don't do that? Because only firing him would placate the big money people.
