My tastes are all over the map...there isn't much I don't listen to.
Today, I was noting on Twitter how I like the Lincoln car commercials here in the US because some feature the music of Miles Davis. Specifically, the music is from the soundtrack to the movie "Ascenseur pour l'échafaud." You might know it as "Elevator to the Gallows" or "Lift to the Scaffold," depending on where you're from. Good film...a Louis Malle film from the late 50s. The soundtrack is just amazing though..."Generique" is probably the saddest jazz song I have ever heard. |
Ahhhh - that is one of my favourite Miles Davis tracks. Instantly recognisable, from just a few notes. It's so haunting. Has a strangely measured tone to it.

That's a great description Dana, he doesn't do too much rather just enough.

The story of how it was created is interesting too...it all came together within a month, and was recorded over two days: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascens...ud_(soundtrack)

Kind of makes me want to roll an invisible booger around on my thumb
