The point here is mostly to keep it out of Google and out of the Internet Archives. Do not copy the story. Thank you.

he has a lot of things I would love to buy. I'm just glad you got out alive

UT, in contrast, what percentage of those stored items might the pawn shop have been interested in (rough guess)?

I get the feeling that somebody's last words are going to be a variation on: "This is The Big One, Elizabeth! I'm coming to join ya honey."

Good short story.

Just had a chance to read it UT.
You should write for us more, you do it so well.

Crazy times indeed.

There is nearly zero overlay!

The pawn shop will only take in things that have a predictable eBay value. The pawn shop needs a model number and a few eBay sales to show it can be sold again, with zero risk. So it does not deal in antiques.

Andy will only take things in that he secretly thinks have value. He doesn't bother checking eBay values of stuff. Sometimes he's right, other times he's wrong. It's not a good system, but there are a few things he actually knows about.

For instance, he has worked out that old gas cans sell for unexpectedly high numbers, and whenever he sees one, he grabs it up. (It's because the new gas cans suck.)

He knows that there are certain sets of Ghostbusters action figures that will fetch really big bucks. After my time there, he now knows that there's also a set that fetches nothing, and he's stuck with a bunch from that era.

I think the story is entirely lacking in closure.

lumberjim 05-19-2014 08:02 PM

It's a good tale and well written of course, but you left his employ before anything good happened!
