This became a cult favorite, but it bombed at the box office: "UHF," starring Weird Al Yankovic. One of the greatest movies...ever!

     Hmm, wow, I know, and like almost all these obscure-ass movies...
     Here's a sci-fi that was big way back when, "Enemy Mine" with Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr. You can watch this one with your kids.
     For more modern day fun I suggest "Diggstown" again with Gossett, and James Woods this time. It's got con artists and boxing and cheating and suggestive material and.... Just watch it. It's not clean fun, but it is fun. It's not that dirty either...

What was the one with Bill Maher? The one with the Amazon women?

Also, "DC Cab" is great. I don't think it did all that well, but it had a lot of funny people in it (Gary Busey, Mr. T, Bill Maher, Max Gail from "Barney Miller").

I second that, juju. Our VHS copy got destroyed in the fire, so I'mma buy a DVD to replace. The movie absolutely rules.

i picked up 'the three amigos' today at best buy for 9 bucks. ive noticed that comedies from this general time period (when steve martin, mel brooks, john candy, etc. were in their prime) can be had for dirt cheap. i settled on amigos, but heres a short list of what i had to choose from:

spaceballs
blazing saddles
caddyshack
planes trains and automobiles
strange brew

all for under 10 bucks, and all better comedies than most we see these days. frankly, im ashamed to admit that these films arent already in my collection (well, i have most of them on vhs). my only beef is that these dvds are usually pretty feature-free. i would love to see deleted scenes, out takes, and maybe the occasional commentary, but ill try not to complain too much.

I picked up Steve Martin's "The Man with Two Brains" and William Hurt's "Altered States" at WalMart in a giant clearance bin full of crap for $5.99 each! On DVD, even!

"The Man with Two Brains" has one of my favorite Steve Martin lines...

That's downright lyrical....

I remember I thought that movie was cool.

Big Trouble in Little China and Army of Darkness, which were very similar action-comedy-drama-occult movies with semi-satirical lead characters.
