Our World-Historical Gamble

This one's making the rounds. VERY VERY long and difficult but it explains the big picture in a new way.

"What Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein have in common is that they became rich because the West paid them for natural resources that the West could simply have taken from them at will."

I'm thinking about writing a simpler version of this essay today.

bin Laden didn't get rich off of oil. He got rich because his dad got rich, and his dad got rich because his dad owned a construction empire.
