The heat index is a way to account for this combination of heat and humidity.

According to Wunderground, right now in London, it's the early afternoon, and the temperature is 82 degrees F and the heat index is 82 degrees F. In Arlington VA right now, it's mid morning and the temperature is 87 degrees F and the heat index is 100 degrees F.

Admittedly, I'm sitting in air conditioning right now, but my morning commute was pretty gross, walking to the subway station.

89 F feels like 99 F at the school today... but I'm only working mornings so I left before it got hot. Sposed to reach 95 add in your heat index. <ouch>

It is so hot here in M'town that I think I am going to throw up. Just came back from an 80's themed hospital picnic. Even the ice cream was hot.

Super rough when you're not used to, and don't have AC.

The neighbor asked if I wanted to take the kids to the (shadeless) playground at 2 today. I politely declined, pointing out the heat index was 105F. Lady, you just had skin cancer removed this spring -- 2 in the afternoon, no shade? Are you nuts? And you want to take babies out in that?

nutz, for sure.

An unusual weather pattern is in place over Australia.

Attachment 44855

There is a low near Tasmania, and a high south of Perth. Remember that in the southern hemisphere, winds go clockwise around a low and anticlockwise around a high. As a result, a big pool of very cold moist air is being swept up from the Southern Ocean and blasted over Southern Australia.

So we're having a top of 11 degrees centigrade, showers, small hail, and a chance of snow in the Mt Lofty ranges near the city. Although right now it is sunny outside.

We had a very brief, intensely windy spell last night, and a minute bit of rain.

Today things are a bit more reasonable.

So much cooler today! Lovely. Warm enough not to need a coat, but not so warm i have to hide indoors. Perfect.

Apparently the heat will be building back up in next couple days so im enjoying this whilst i can:)
