:) Well Goalie #1 is a senior so even if he doesn't grab it this year, it's definitely attainable next...

First game tonight.

We left home at 5:35, arrived 6:45. Game started at 8 .....and still wasn't done by 10!!! They had 2.5 hours ice time! Norm to this point is 1.5 for a game (sometimes only 1 for a practice). So when the game was finally done (won 3-1) .....they fricking stayed on to hold a shoot out. Can't waste ice time (remember, 70 minute ride home still to go, school night, school starts at 7:25am.....)

FFS we got home at midnightish. Trying to chill enough to go to bed (a fun drive throught Detroit via urban feeway)

glatt 11-15-2013 07:22 AM

Urban freeways are the best! Heavy traffic, lots of potholes, and no money to fix the potholes. Even if you have the money, you can't close a lane to fix the potholes because that will gridlock the entire city. You need a jeep and have to drive 25 to avoid damage to your vehicle, but there's some crack head in a beat up shitbox going 70 who's going to rear end you, so you speed up too and wince going over the potholes. And then doing this at midnight while trying to get the kids home into bed on a school night. That's priceless.

Similar again last night -the team got bussed this time, but returned at 11:45pm. thankfully no school for hockey-boy today -end of trimester. I was unprepared for this. I've been to a couple of high school games, but they were in this city, so I guess that makes the long game time less noticeable. An hour's commune in each direction adds a lot. We're just used to the 50 or 80 minute ice times of house hockey! So funny, because high School Swim meets are shorter than regular club meets

....and the season's over.

He had his name in the headline on the local news when the first goalie was pulled and the game was turned from a big defeat to a big victory. And he lettered. Well he would have done if there wasn't a snow day today so all the letters and pins were locked in the athletic office and so not at the banquet tonight!

The team had the best season Ever, beating all the previously unbeaten locals at least once

And if stuff goes to plan he'll be the starting goalie next year. But things never go to plan.

Congratulations to the boy, he did very well. :thumb:

I AM PISSED!

Of course things didn't go to plan, and he's not the starting goalie this year. the one he allegedly displaced last year got a whole load better and took that spot. and pretender is also rostered. but now.......

We get to the rink for the game tonight and coach has installed a new goalie. Wearing my kid's jersey. My kid is dressed wearing the pretender's jersey. Pretender is not dressed and is up in the bleachers. New goalie was dropped from his AAA team so decided to deign to come play for the school. So my boy has to give up his number -which is listed in the glossy printed program that we raised sponsorship $$ for, and he and pretender are sharing pretender's number and the third spot. yup, on Saturday when Banana lady is here to see her first high school game, my boy won't even be dressed.

his lordship did not try out, has not yet been to a practice.... and I learned that apparently we will still be expected to pay the full team fee. Now we can assume that his lordship is paying a full fee can't we, so don't you think at least that we might get to pay 50%?

I AM SO FUCKING PISSED

His lordship is a lovely lad. he played with the team in the summer (many travel players do) but he played out. He felt my boy slighted him in some way and cross checked him so he fell backward into the goal.

I hope his lordship breaks a limb. I rarely say such things and really, really mean them, but this one, I do. And I hope coach gets a hernia in his nutsack.

It's BS, and I'm pissed off on Hector's behalf. He will shine through though, with class and dignity. I bet The Golden Child ain't got no class (and from what you said, no sportsmanship.)

glatt 12-18-2014 02:13 PM

I personally would blame the coach before I blamed the kid. The kid also just wants to play. It's the coach's job to be fair about it all and to apply the rules evenly.

Excellent, I agree completely.

The Moffatt Stick, which is claimed to be the world's oldest hockey stick, has it's own website.
