My first thought when seeing those "bucket trucks" was of a hot man scratching at his betty swallocks with a salad fork.

They probably designed the lights with different lenses so they can switch colors electronically. The color of the lights on the 35W bridge change at least once a week and the cost of manually changing the colors every week would be astronomical.

FWIW, This bridge (The Lowery Bridge) over the Mississippi
is the replacement of the I-35 bridge that collapsed in 2007.
