It doesn't matter what you see or what you do, you are the most exciting, independent, and amazing woman on earth. You could even go see The Movie of the Unwashed Masses and you would shine like a brilliant star.

Awwww shucks, you're just buttering me up. I'll buy me, I mean you, some popcorn to go with that butter, when I, I mean we, go to the movies. :corn:

:)

The first 3D movie I saw was Avatar.* I saw it in an IMAX 3D theater and thought it really added something. I've seen several other regular 3D movies and have only been disappointed by the poor use of 3D.

* I'm not counting seeing that Michael Jackson 3D (Captain Neo?) movie at Disneyland in 1987. That made me nauseous.

I saw Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams but that had to be in 3D because you needed to see the depth and dimension of the cave surfaces i order to really get a sense of the caves. I took the glasses off at one point and the movie was dull.

In order to really work, a 3D movie has to be shot in 3D and even then, it often doesn't work because of other camera/lens quirks like depth of field. Using select focus (some things sharp, others not) defeats the purpose of 3D, there are times when you can't have everything sharp even if you wanted to.

It worked in Herzogs film because they were conscious of the technology. And there were a few times when it didn't work in that movie because of aforementioned limitations.

That's all I got.

There was one annoying scene in Avatar where I wanted to watch a seed pod floating around off to the side of the screen, but it was out of focus. Actually pissed me off a little that they wouldn't let me.

I think I'll chuck the Jurassic Park idea, and just go see Evil Dead.

I thought it might be an opportunity to see some neat effects because, as I keep saying, I have little interest in actiony fantasy 'running around in otherworlds' movies. Jurassic Park was fun enough, and had that little hint of 'could it happen?' necessary to make me interested, but the 3D doesn't sound worth it.

Thanks for the input: one for Jurassic Park and 4 "others", and I was 2 of the others. Think, if I hadn't included the write-in I would've had one answer. That's what I call teamwork. You're all fired. And mean. :(

Thanks for the input though, all y'all up thar. ;)

Oh, also I go to the first showing of the day because it's only $4.50 to get in. I suspect I'll have a much better theater experience at an 11:25 a.m. Rated R movie than I would at movie that will draw a lot of kiddies later that day. I should have the front section all to myself.

Other: tv boxset with a pizza delivery

infinite monkey 04-05-2013 11:08 AM

I think that's a good idea...the pizza thing I haven't done in a while. I'll pick up the next two discs of Brothers and Sisters and veg out and eat pizza. I need to veg out.

DanaC 04-05-2013 12:56 PM

That sounds a good plan to me.

infinite monkey 04-05-2013 01:00 PM

for Dana's eyes only: And I just got a new sack of veg materials. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Pete Zicato 04-05-2013 01:36 PM

Yes. I'm nosy.

At the risk of being Debbie Downer, I have heard that it can be risky ingesting "vegetable materials" whilst also taking certain prescription drugs.

infinite monkey 04-05-2013 01:51 PM

That Debbie...don't even let her into the house, man! ;)

Pete Zicato 04-05-2013 02:02 PM

Just be careful, doll. We don't need anymore heartbreak.

infinite monkey 04-05-2013 02:08 PM

I'm a pro. ;)

No, I appreciate your concern, but it's OK really.
