Lot of monasteries in England. Very much part of the catholic community and a key player, alongside Ireland, in the politics of the Church. What's the timeline on this programme? Vikings invaded Lindisfarne in 793. But they mainly just did smash and grab raids along the coast at that time, mainly in the Summer months. They came properly into the country and wintered here in the mid 9th century (I think, I'll have to wiki it) [eta] Ha! Yes, they wintered in England for the first time in 850, on the Isle of Thanet in Kent. I almost said Thanet in my post but wasn't sure. |
It's just good fun and adventure, not to be taken too seriously, a soap opera in a Viking setting, I doubt they've established a time frame.
And being the History Channel automatically makes it historically bullshit. |

The opening scene has 793 as the date. Yes, it is a soap opera, that's what happens when MGM and the History Channel make the beast with two backs...
|
You shut your whore mouth.
It is not a soap opera. Fag |
Is there singing?
Do they advertise soap? Then I rest my case. |
Soap? In England? Surely you jest...
|
Stop calling me Shirley.
|
I called you a jest, too. :p:

Will Erich and Astrid finally meet? Will Gunhild find out about Hilde's pregnancy? Will Leif and Gunnar put aside their differences to save the world?
Find out tomorrow on As the Vikings Turn. |

Needs more motion interpolation to help with judder removal. No self respecting soap opera has that much judder.
Or ignore me. I don't care. |
