As an apol for being so rude to the Scots.
Hibs fans with the wonderful Sunshine on Leith (The Proclaimers). There is a bit of yap, but mostly the BBC accept that the song sung by the massed choir of fans is well worth airtime. The Moroccan player is the one (later) wearing the fez and the Moroccan flag. "We're all Jock Tamson's bairns" seems true on this occasion. Sadly Scottish fitba is rife with sectarianism. I just can't seem to stay away from that subject. But The Proclaimers' song has nothing of this in it, and I get choked up hearing it sung. It's beautifully understated and imho more powerful for it. Gotta love the Scots. |
Scotland is a daff country for sure and they could learn a thing or two about making good whiskey (whisky)

Ahem.

I don't know if we ever answered the original question but I suppose if England is a real country then so must Scotland be. For now, it doesn't matter anyway.
Here's a nice song... |
When I think of a Scotsman, this is what comes to mind.

I hate all the shortbread tin visions of Scotland out there, bears no relation to the actual lives of most Scots nowadays. For years before devolution this speech by Renton out of trainspotting was how a great many of us felt.
Now it's about time we actually grew up as a nation and voted for independance, it's a natural way forward |
