What makes you think that Jesus isn't here today? How do you know he hasn't already returned?

Because for 1. They haven't shown it on ctn and that's pretty much all I watch.
And for 2. Though he may be here in spirit and yes he is.. a Physical presence would mean that His Kingdom has been established on earth and Zion is not a secret society.

How am I provoking.. If you don't like my attitude please feel free to check and balance me.

I want to repent. I regret having created religious institutions.

If Jesus were to return today and see all of this "mess" of false profits and corruption he would be very disappointed. So I am making a decision to be pure, and in a world of hate and confusion I see that the biggest 'sins' I have is this... "smoking" "masturbation" and "lying". I think smoking is going to be the hardest to stop. Masturbation for me is just the most pathetic thing and I am not really going too worry to much about it. Lying should be easy to stop because I don't really have much to lie about, I got hung up with a lying spirit there for a little while but I think it's gone. So how bout U. Do you have sins you'd like to repent of....

I think we can agree that Jesus was one of the good guys of history. To me "sin" is confined to doing ill to others. The three you mention are all connected together. They can be coping mechanisms, attempts to keep our head in the right place. Lying can have a significant effect on others, but it can also be a way of protecting others. I have to be careful with that one because I need to recognize when I'm a being avoidant, protective, or lazy about knowing my own mind. Smoking is not generally good for you, but if you need that to successfully relax your mental state it is actually a good. Masturbation is not a big deal unless it causes you to constantly objectify your fellow (wo)man leading to other de-humanizing behaviors. Letting go of the imposed guilt aspect of masturbation helps turn it into a healthy mechanism.

The main chink in my armor is anger management. I spend a lot of time on keeping my mental state healthy... when I'm not posting on the cellar. ;)

How can a devout Christian disregard the Ten Commandments?
Jesus never refuted the Commandments, they are still there as the gold standard.

God is omniscient. If he was that stressed about wanking and smoking, he'd have managed to get that in somewhere. He was not impressed by lying. He told Moses that and Moses passed it on. Forget the other two, this is what you need to work on.

I don't know you well enough to make a point of any of the others, but in general I think you should take more care about the old Top Ten and stop worrying about genitals.

I live in a country where the majority of people self-identify as Christians, but a poll identifying the Ten Commandments gave a mixture of the Seven Deadly Sins (from the film, not from Pope Gregory) and the Seven Dwarves.

Wanky and Smokey did not feature in any of the three.
Liar, liar, pants on fire did.

Hope this helps.

That tells me your closed minded, which is the essence of Christianity.

No thank you. I'm done tryin' to make you understand that we're NOT going to conform to your views.

Blessed be.

Slight sidestep, but I feel quite relevant to the OP.

Here are two people answering the question: Are Jesus and his teachings still relevant in Britain today?

First, comedian and writer, Jon Holmes:

Second, Former Labour MP Tony Benn: (love this man)
