I like Lowery's Premium Roast. I usually get Espresso Reale (not shown, interestingly) or Elliot Bay Fogcutter, they're both very good. I buy five pound bags of beans and grind them one pot at a time. I grind it espresso fine and use my french press for regular coffee. This usually means there's *plenty* of actual coffee beans ground exceptionally fine in my cup. I like it that way. I sometimes get other brands, Starbucks, Millstone, Five Star, or other local roasters to change things up. I think my favorite region is Sumatra, it is just delicious. I am not especially fond of very dark roasts like French Roast.

Spexxvet, I have done the math on my coffee costs and it comes out to $0.12 per cup with the coffee described above. Please note, I get it at the store for about $42/bag, not the higher price plus shipping. TOTALLY worth it.

New England French Vanilla is my latest favorite. Its pretty cheap too.

The best I did was the jet fuel. 50 for $30 on amazon. There were cheaper packages, but they all seemed to be samplers.

Thanks, V. Sounds like you like your coffee dark too. I have an espresso machine so I toss the beans into the machine and it grinds the beans when it makes the coffee(espresso).

Jealous ... If I do espresso, I have to grind the beans and then dump them into the machine.

An espresso machine is an ultimate self-indulgence that is soooooo worth it. If you're a coffee drinker, that is.

I've been drinking cafe lattes but felt like having a black one this morning.

I like my coffee long ... Have a pint mug at home for my morning filter coffee. The worst thing about staying in hotels is the piddley little coffee cups they provide at breakfast. Getting refills is not the same!

I'm with you limey. My favorite coffee mug is 16 ounces. I almost never have "just one". I drink that one, then fill 'er up, rinse, repeat. Minus the rinse part.

limey 04-11-2012 10:50 AM

Sixteen ounces is for sissies, BigV! A proper pint, an English pint is 20!
I used to have two, sometimes three mugs, but have scaled back to just one, most days.

2 @24 before noon .. then ZERO or I'll never get to sleep.

I have been undercaffienated this week. The new nuthouse does not have a coffee maker in the office. I don't know how they do it.
