Walmart does not currently have in place a policy regulating how our shoppers choose to shop...

Reminds me of how the Evil Ex got his first step on the property ladder in London.
A conversion project hit a cashflow problem and were holding an event to get people to sign up for apartments still being converted (in an old factory). You had to have a mortgage agreement in writing (subject to T&C and all sorts of course) proof of idenity and all this and all that. But the bottom line was you turned up on the day and queued and got the chance of a flat in London at a feasible amount.

We intended to stay up all night but instead had too much exy-sexy and fell asleep. Luckily I'd set my alarm for 05.00 and with nothing on the roads we were there by 06.30 (I was his designated driver). The office opened at 10.30. Many people had camped out overnight. When the staff realised that, they handed out tickets to the first, enabling them to go home for the night. We were about 15th in line of those without tickets.

We made pals in the line - as you do. Holding places, getting eachother tea & coffee and bacon sarnies from the very surprised cafe round the corner. The line stretched out of view behind us.

Once the office opened we were ushered in, in batches. Sat with nothing to do, but at least sitting on chairs, not pavement. Chap who had had a ticket came up to me - "Do you want this? I was only after a penthouse and they've gone now."
Oh yeah!
Evil Ex got the last available flat in the place.
AND I paid his deposit.
Sigh. I called it love back then. Now I know it's just financial irresponsibility.

LAPD still undecided on charges in Wal-Mart pepper spraying
Quote:

Los Angeles police Saturday said they have not yet decided whether to seek
charges against a woman who doused a crowd of Thanksgiving night shoppers
with pepper spray at a Wal-Mart in Porter Ranch.

The woman, who has not been identified, turned herself in to police Friday night
after video of the incident was broadcast.

In a separate report, one person is quoting a rumor that:
Quote:

The ACLU, NRA, PGoA*,MGMC**, and Chamber of Commerce
are joining together for the first time in history to support
a grown woman's rights under the 2nd Amendment.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man collapsed while doing some Black Friday shopping in a crowded store, and people nearby continued to shop.

Witnesses tell WSAZ.com some shoppers walked around and even over the man's body.

Family members tell WSAZ.com that Walter Vance, of Logan County, W.Va., passed away after being taken to the hospital.

It happened at Target in the Southridge Shopping Center in South Charleston about 12:15 a.m. Friday.

Vance got sick and collapsed on the floor while shopping for Christmas decorations for his newly remodeled workplace.

I do not shop on Black Friday, and tend to avoid retail outlets like the plague on Black Weekend.

Yesterday (Saturday) I was over at crazynurse's with her daughters picking through her clothing, and have ended up with a lot of stuff.

Afterwards, gothychick and her husband announced that they were going to the Evil Empire and asked if I'd like to come along.

I was worried, but they sweetened the deal with a trip to Red Robin. I'd never been to one, and agreed. Red Robin is the promised land of Burgers, Fries, and an extraordinary dessert called the Mile High Mud Pie, which I think is illegal in some jurisdictions.

But anyway.

They decided to go to a Wal-Mart in a semi Rural community, thinking that it might be better than hitting the one in a more populated area.

It was around 8pm.

We got a pull-thru space THREE SPACES FROM THE DOOR.

The store was well-stocked.

There were no crazed crowds.

People were friendly and happy.

Unbelievable.

I went to the mall, of all places, because that's where I get my hair cut and I was determined not to reschedule. It was 1:00 on Saturday, and parking/crowds were completely normal.

classicman 11-28-2011 04:27 PM

I went shopping with Wolf today ... :)

and there were parking spots everywhere. When we got inside it was like a ghost town. Loved it!

wolf 11-28-2011 05:55 PM

I couldn't believe it, either. It was actually less crowded than a regular, average day at the Really Big Mall.

And classic is a hoot to shop with ... we actually have fairly similar styles.

I must admit, though, that I got a bit tingly when he told me to lie down in the bed. It was nicely firm. ;)

monster 11-28-2011 05:59 PM

yeah, we warned them you guys were coming...

Ha! That was supposed to be our little secret. ;)

Oh and $5000 for a friggin bed is ridiculous. I don't care how comfortable it was.

Sundae 11-29-2011 07:34 AM

I'd pay $5000 for a frigging bed.
It would pay back its worth in gigolos.

Trilby 11-29-2011 07:48 AM

wolf left out the most important part of the story!!

What did you have at Red Robin?

:D
