In fact, the order preceded the release of his birth certificate, as if he were smirking, "Okay guys, fine, here's the long form certificate, I'm sure this is gonna be the top news for weeks and weeks..." Secondly, the annual White House Press Corps dinner also happened in the interim, during which Obama was videotaped laughing long and hard in response to a joke about bin Laden's whereabouts.

This live-feed business really forces leaders to confront the reality of what they've ordered. It seems like a good trend.

Take it further. Once a day, maybe while he is exercising, the prez watches a headcam feed from some randomly chosen grunt. Might be in a firefight in Fubaristan, might be standing sentry duty on a road block on a god-awful hot day outside Kabul.
