Have you ever eaten a whole bucket of fried chicken and felt like you needed MORE?!

They used to have them here in PA. I went there a few times and then they shut them down.

Cause and effect?;)

We're set for going to Florida in the fall, about 10 miles north of Miami. A nice beach side timeshare. I'm hoping oil hasn't gotten there by then.

Atlantic? I hope the ocean is as beautiful for you as it was for us. On Friday, after a few relatively more choppy days (we had some "adventure" waves), it settled back down to where gentle waves were breaking against a little sand reef about 20 feet out, creating a shallow tidepool of warm water that the little ones could play "sea puppies" in.

Yes, but only because it comes out the other end faster than I can eat. :greenface

Sorry I haven't gotten the photos together, but here is an illustrated summary:

Nice.

What's that in the lower right hand corner where you have the 4 smiling faces looking at the big penis?

Shawnee123 07-02-2010 10:45 AM

I think that's the dream he teased us with earlier. The big penis belongs to...(fess up Flint.)

I love that illustration! How funny.

Oh, there was a jacuzzi tub in the suite. That's a picture of all 4 of us being able to fit in one tub.

I can't figure out what the building (?) is in the middle of the bottom row. But other than that, it's very descriptive.

On the way to Florida, stopped at Battleship park on Mobile Bay, Alabama to see the USS Alabama, which was really cool because it looked like it was designed by a 10 year-old--it had guns poking out from everywhere! Also got to go inside a submarine, the USS Drum. Pictued below is the torpedo room (note the high-tech droplight aiming down the tube).

We get to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and observe how big it is. Sometimes, an "adventure wave" gets you! Later, we talk about how these are called whitecaps. In the kite-flying picture, notice how we had the beach all to ourselves--we were getting up early and enjoying the beach before it got too hot! Pooka even got some nice sunrise shots.

Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton, a three-story science playground. The first picture below gives you an idea of what I was drawing--a maze of wooden passageways. We went there three times during the week. There was the big park, an indoor science museum, and even a carousel.

Here, I built a little shrine where you crossed the sand bridge to place seashells and treasures on the sea altar. The kids (even kids that belonged to other people) really enjoyed decorating this thing, and it was intended as a lesson in Buddhist impermanence. Later, I noticed that it was the Flying Spaghetti Monster, so I added some noodley appendages.

We did everything sealife-themed on this vacation (mostly Pooka's planning in what toys, movies, etc. we brought) and we even watched JAWS. Pictured below (also from Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton) you can see how the boy is just terrified of sharks.

Also pictured below is my ultimate sand fortress, and Pooka's amazing collection of seashell oddities.
